I don't sleep well, never have, not even before. It takes me an hour or more to fall asleep, I have never been one to fall asleep instantly no matter how exhausted I am. Even after I do fall asleep I often wake up in the wee hours of the morning, I usually fall back asleep around three or four a.m. and sleep until morning.
Tonight is no different, I wake up at one thirty and can't fall back asleep. I decide to go walk around for a bit and pull my favorite sweatshirt on over my pajamas. I wander around before winding up on the roof. I'm not the only one on the roof, Steve is here too. He is sitting on the edge of the roof leaning his arms on the lower part of the railing with his feet dangling over the edge.
"Trouble sleeping?" He asks.
"Same as always. I might fall asleep but I don't stay asleep. You?"
"Slept for seventy years, ma'am." He says jokingly, with an undercurrent of seriousness. I stare up at the stars, out here in the middle of nowhere you can clearly see the stars bright against the black sky. I doze off at some point because I wake up hours later in my bed with a blanket covering me.
