Loki was assigned a room in the same hall way as everyone not living in the nest. I took this to be a positive sign. I still can;t believe that Loki, who seems quite nice, really tried to enslave the human race using an alien army. Anyhow, whether he did or did not what matters now is what he told the Avengers to get them so riled up. No one wanted to talk about it, they just all went off to their individual tasks, today being Saturday and so there was no training or mandatory workouts. Wait if today is Saturday then tomorrow is Sunday which means I need to go to church. I'll go ask Steve about that.
I wind up finding Steve in the library,"Tomorrow is Sunday. I want to attend mass tomorrow."
"Okay, you can come with me." He doesn't even glance up from his book as he sits reading in the chair in the alcove.
"Catholic, right?"
"Yes. Got enough books there Beth?" He raises his eyebrow as he finally glances up and sees the large stack of books I'm carrying.
"Eh, should probably find a couple more, I read quickly." It's true the ten or fifteen books I'm holding will probably last a week at most. Though that number will be affected by how much time I spend reading each day. "What time do we leave in the morning?"
"Nine-thirty. Mass starts at ten o'clock in the chapel at Fort Leavenworth. Do you want help carrying those books?"
"No thank you, having to carry my own books helps to limit the number of books I take at one time. Mom used to limit my book consumption that way, keep it at a reasonable number. I miss her so much."
"I understand."
I nod and walk away before I can start tearing up. I carry the books to back to my room and start reading. I hear a knock on the door half way through my second book. I get up and open the door, in walks Nat soaking wet and madder than a hornet."You're helping get revenge on Loki. So far he has got me drenched, died Cap's hair, hid Stark's wrenches, painted Sam's wings neon orange, and put green food coloring on all of the food."
"Any ideas for a prank?" I ask closing my book.
"That's your job."
"What color is Cap's hair?"
"Red, white, and blue. That one is actually pretty funny."
"Nice. Okay, who all is in on this?"
"Everyone."
"Brilliant. Meet in the library in fifteen minutes. The non-fiction section."
Author's note:
I wanted Beth to have bonding moments with each of the avengers, Steve was obvious, religion. I'm Catholic by the way, not trying to offend anyone, but if my religion offends you you don't have to read my story anymore. Anyhow, in the next few chapters Beth will be becoming part of the team, finding her niche if you will. I'll still try to include exciting action but first Beth has to figure out what Loki said to the avengers... no one will talk about it. Hope you enjoy my story.
