Chapter 17

"A little over two years ago, Dad was stationed in South Korea. Mom and Dad wanted me to finish out high school in America to get the full high school experience so they shipped me off to live at Aquae House with my grandparents, cousins, and aunt. Aunt Maria, my cousin Peter's mom, warned me to stay out of the forest directly behind the house. She told me that Eliza and Peter had gotten lost back there. Being rather young and quite bored having finished reading my book I went into the forest behind the house determined to find out why I was warned away from the forest. I found an arch of stone sitting in the forest. As I walked through the arch an ancient portal was activated sending me to Faery. On the other side of the portal I was found by the Fey.

The Fey were in a civil war, Shadow Fey against Light Fey, each side fighting to establish one of the twin queens as sole ruler. You see the Fey always have have two rulers whether it is a set of twins or a married monarch there must always be one Shadow Fey and one Light Fey on the throne. The Light Queen had throne her sister off the throne making the Shadow Queen into a villian and imprisoning her within the bark of a tree. The Shadow Queen escaped after a decade or so, not seeking revenge but wanting to right the wrongs and balance the land. For it was not as the Light Queen had said that Shadow Fey were evil and Light Fey were perfect, the Shadow Queen believed that all contained good and evil within them and it was which they chose to act on that made them good or evil, not Light Fey or Dark Fey. The Shadow Queen was very popular among the people for her sister had set up a caste system based upon Light or Shadow and was very cruel and unfair. Each sister had a group of supporters.

The Fey that found me were Light Fey, part of the Light Queens elites and they took me to the Palace of Light and Shadows where the Light Queen pronounced me passable, that I wasn't too Shadowy but not Light enough since I had no wings at that time. I was made one of the kitchen help and from there I was recruited a few weeks later by a member of the Shadow Queen's supporters who was a dear friend and helped me when my wings first grew. The Fey guided me to the Shadow Queen's camp and I was taught the Fey dialect of the old language as well as tutored in controlling my new found magic. The Shadow Queen was fair and kind or tried her best to be as fair as possible. She was a good queen.

After several months,I was captured by a third faction, wanting neither Queen to rule but to replace them with a Shadow Fey who would make the Shadow Fey above the Light Fey just as the Light Queen had made the Shadow Fey inferior to the Light Fey.They wanted both queens dead; one for destroying the natural balance and the other for seeking to return it. This third group called themselves the Night Era. When I was captured by the Night Era I was trained as an assassin with many other halflings, that's what human and Fey descendants are called, since halflings were seen as inferior by most Fey and were expendable to the Night Era.

The Elven Ambassador arrived in Faery and was shocked at everything that had occurred. The Elves were tasked long ago with keeping the peace in the realms, protecting humans, and other noble duties. The Elf dug through all the rumors sorting fact from fiction, consulting with her brother, the Elven King and determining that the old order of balance and equality had to be restored. She assisted the Shadow Queen and led the raid on the Night Era encampment rescuing me and the other halflings. The Shadow Queen and the Ambassador stormed the Palace of Light and Shadows and restored equality and balance. The Shadow Queen was married to her fiancee from before her imprisonment. Together they became the Shadow Queen and Light King and began a peaceful rule of fairness, equality, and love.

With the civil war sorted out, I traveled with the Elven Ambassador to her homeland. Many people of all races study with the Elves and it was there I was trained and tutored until they deemed me ready to return through the arch. One of the witches teleported me to the Palace of Light and Shadows where I bid farewell to the Shadow Queen and Light King and stepped back through the portal and was then captured, arrested, what ever you choose to call it by SHIELD and was brought here, picked to join the Avengers and here I am."

 The world which Beth traveled to is actually the world which my other book, Krizzia of Peregrine, takes place. It would be so awesome if you read my other books as well, especially if you like the fantasy genre. And the plotline of the Faery civil war is the base of my fourth book which I haven't started posting to wattpad yet... I hope you enjoy this book : )
