"Loki s that guy who tried to take over the world right?" I ask Wanda on the quinnjet. (Not sure how that's spelled so...)
"Yeah." She mutters, the jet begins to experience some turbulence, she grimaces, "Not a huge fan of flying."
===============================================================
Finally the jet lands in Springfield, Wanda, Sam, and I are assigned the mission of placing a tracker on Loki. The three of us split up into the crowd, I garner lots of strange looks from people. I look like an escapee from a comic book convention. So I decide to play that up asking people if they have seen my friend, that we got separated and give them his description.
"Who are you dressed up as dear?"One old woman asks.
"Arya from the Inheritance Cycle. Have you seen Luke? He's dressed up as Galbatorix, long black hair, gold armor, green cape?"
"Your friend is over by the fountain dear. Have fun at the convention." She points me in the direction of the fountain.
"Thank you ma'am." I approach Loki and start talking rapidfire, "Luke is that you? No? Sorry, thought you were some one else. Oh I love your costume! Are you here for the convention? Who are you, Galbatorix?"
I grab his cape and slyly attach a small gps tracker to it, "Wow, you even got the cape right. Do you know how hard it is to get this shade of green. I've been trying to get my tunic this color but it turned black instead... I'm Beth by the way."
"Loki."
"Pleasure to meet you Loki but I have to go or else I'll be late." I turn to leave, but Loki grabs my arm with a mischevious grin.
"I'm afraid I am quite lost, could I walk with you to the convention since you seem to know where you are going."
He caught me, or at least suspects something. Crap..., I bluff "Sure."
He offers me his arm, I take it and we walk around a bit until I pass Wanda. Help I mouth at her praying she knows how to read lips. Sure enough she nods faintly and hurry off to the alley where the quinnjet is parked. I lead Loki into the alleyway and elbow him in the gut. He recovers quickly and tries to grab my arm but I'm already backing away and assuming a defensive stance. Loki casts a spell and water oozes out of the ground onto my feet trying to trip me. I call the water and douse Loki with it. It begins to freeze around him. I ask the water to melt and it complies much prefering to be free flowing and liquid. Nat smaps a pair of handcuffs around his wrists. She just came out of nowhere but I now she was watching. If I was losing she would have helped.
I call the water off of Loki and it sticks to me like armor, without getting my clothes wet. Loki walks into the jet, dodges Thor's hug and smirks at Steve, "Captain Rogers."
"Loki." Steve grits out and then turns to face me, "The mission was just to place a tracker on Loki, not capture him. Do you know how dangerous that is?"
"Yes. I wasn't planning on capturing him but he decided to call my bluff." I buckle myself into my seat next to Wanda. Everyone else is in the process of finding their seats too.
"I am aware, we were watching through the security cameras."
"Well then you saw me signal Wanda for help, I was right outside the jet y'all could've stepped in and helped if you wanted to. Besides he seems to want to be here, odd, but he didn't really put up a fight." I shrug.
"Lady Beth is right, my brother does seem to be here of his own free will." Thor adds glancing at Loki who plops himself into he seat next to me.
"Thor and Loki are brothers? Did your parents name after the Norse myths?" I ramble.
"They are the Norse myths." Nat calls out from her seat in the cockpit."Pretty much gods."
"There's only one God." I state.
"Cap said the same thing the first time he met them."
"And I still believe it." Steve responds.
"Do you really drive a goat drawn chariot?" I ask.
"What?" Thor looks taken back.
"In the tale of Loki-Utgarda Thor is driving a goat drawn chariot with Loki and travels with a giant whom Thor attempts to smite with his hammer but the giant just asks if an acorn fell on his head, Thor and Loki go explore a castle and a giant called Loki of the Utgarda, at this point the myth is fuzzy as to whether this is the same Loki Thor has been traveling with, but anyhow, Thor challenges him to a drinking contest. Thor failed, same with the cat challenge, and the race, so Thor gets really angry and challenges anyone in the castle to a wrestling contest. Thor loses to an elderly woman. Loki-Utgarda stops the contests and in the morning tells Thor to never come back, that he was really competing with thought and old age and such. Thor is infuriated by the trickery and tries to slay Loki-Utgarda and destroy the castle but they are gone. You sound really immature and easy to anger by the way, hope you've grown up since then."
"Ah the irony." Loki mutters and then points at me with his handcuffed hands "She called you out, brother. I like her."
"Um, thanks, I think..." I trail off, I send the water to cover my boots, and some over my arm forming shifting curls and swirly patterns. Eventually we land back at base.
"I'm going flying I shout and take off into the air.
Authors note:
For those of you who have read the Inheritance Cycle, yes, I know Arya isn't an archer but obviously Loki doesn't. Also Beth is blond and Arya has raven colored hair. Their general manner of dress is similar, tunics, pants, various medieval-esque armor and stuff. Arya has a more exotic look and Beth is very stereotypical midwestern girl. I just couldn't help but add some book references in here and there, particularly since Beth is also a book worm like myself.
