"Yes, your real family," Baoshan replied. "I found you on the mountain path when you were a month old. your mother left her there with a letter explaining your powers and saying to keep you safe. She was my former disciple and was a brilliant cultivator. She left this mountain to be with your father."

As her Master explained about Wei (Y/n)'s parents, she finally understood why they chose to leave her there. But her Master didn't mention that she had a brother, so Wei (Y/n) voiced her question. "Master, I understand why my parents left me here, but do I have a brother? If so, why was he in my dreams?"

She smiled lightly at Wei (Y/n)'s question. "You do have a brother; in fact, he is your twin. His name is Wei Wuxian. As to why he was in your dreams, I suspect that you two are twins. As you explained that you saw him being covered in black, it may indicate that in the near future, he may be subjected to wrongdoings."

"So I have to stop him? What about the burning lotus?" Wei (Y/n) asked.

"You do know about the sects, right?" She was asked, and Wei (Y/n) nodded. "It may hint at the destruction of Lotus Pier. And yes, when the time comes, you have to help your brother and save him from the darkness. Did you see anything else in your dream? Anything you forgot to mention?"

Wei (Y/n) closed her eyes, remembering the dream.

The fire all around...the lotus...a family...her brother...Screaming and the darkness...A red sun

Wei (Y/n) opened her eyes and recalled what she had just remembered. "Ah, it seems that the Wens are attempting to gain control over the cultivation world. Your mother instructed me to reveal everything to you when the time was right. Now that time has come. You must depart and assist your brother," her Master informed her.

"Leave? Leave this mountain? Leave you and never return?" Wei (Y/n) asked, standing up and widening her eyes.

"Yes, you must go to aid your brother. The future of the cultivation world is at stake," her Master replied sternly.

Wei (Y/n) closed her eyes, and all the memories of this place flooded her mind. Her eyes filled with tears as she opened them. She stood up straight and kowtowed deeply to show her respect. She let the tears fall as she straightened, and her Master pulled her into a hug.

"I will miss you, A-(Y/n). I wish you all the best and hope you will use my teachings for peaceful purposes," her Master softly said, letting go. Wei (Y/n) bowed to her once again before leaving to prepare for her journey. She took JùLóng and Yí Jūn along with the hairpin her Brother Xingchen had given her.

She wore a light blue hanfu suitable for travel and kept the other one in a small bag. She did not have many belongings, so it did not take her long to prepare. By the time she was ready to leave, it was already past noon. She looked back and felt her eyes sting with tears, but she remained strong and bowed toward the place she called home.

Wei (Y/n) descended the mountain and contemplated where to go next. She decided to head towards a small village, but realizing that she had no money, she simply asked for directions to Lotus Pier. The person she asked gave her a strange look but still pointed her in the right direction. Wei (Y/n) expressed her gratitude and started walking toward her destination.

As the day wore on, she found herself in a forest and realized that she would have to spend the night there. After checking to make sure that she was alone, she sat down on a rock and took out her flute. She closed her eyes and began to play a short, soft melody that she used to summon spirits. She pictured the wolf spirit in her mind's eye and focused on calling it forth. When she opened her eyes, she saw a white female sitting before her. Wei (Y/n) had summoned this wolf before and knew her name was Snow, which was fitting because of her white fur.

"How can I be of assistance, my lady?" The spirit asked.

"Snow, I want you to check the area and see if there is any safe place to spend the night," Wei (Y/n) replied and Snow nodded and ran off to scout the area.

After a while, Snow returned. "My lady, there is a small cabin near the stream and no one lives there. It has been deserted. I couldn't smell any human scent nearby. It is safe to go there," Snow reported.

Wei (Y/n) nodded and told Snow to lead the way. Snow led her to a small but nice wooden cabin near the stream. Wei (Y/n) looked inside and saw that it was quite messy. She straightened the place while Snow kept watch. After cleaning up, (Y/n) asked Snow to help her catch some fish. They caught some and Wei (Y/n) started a fire to cook it. After eating, she thanked Snow and sent her back to the spirit realm.

Wei (Y/n) was sitting in front of the cabin playing her flute, Yí Jūn when she heard a twig snap. She quickly unsheathed her sword, Jù Lóng, and pointed it at the source. To her surprise, she saw two men. The one that was injured was wearing white robes with a headband tied around his forehead. The other was supporting the injured male and was also carrying a bag. Wei (Y/n) lowered her sword but remained wary.

"Young Lady, we don't mean any harm. My companion is injured, and we have no place to spend the night. Please let us spend the night at your cabin," the non-injured person said, bowing his head.

"Please, there is no need for that. It's not my cabin either. I'm traveling, and I found this place to spend the night. Go ahead, take your companion inside. I will bring some water for you and your friend," Wei (Y/n) said, sheathing her sword.

Wei (Y/n) filled a bowl with water and brought it to the injured man. She noticed the forehead ribbon, which indicated that he was a member of the Gusu Lan Sect.

"May I ask your name?" Wei (Y/n) inquired politely.

"I am known as Meng Yao, and he is..." The male began to introduce his companion. "...my friend.." She nodded, getting the idea he was not keen on telling about his friend.

"He is a member of Gusu Lan.." She said after a while and Meng Yao nodded. "Yes.."

"He is injured," Wei (Y/n) observed, prompting Meng Yao to reply, "I tried my best to stop the bleeding, but the wounds still have to heal."

Wei (Y/n) nodded and examined the sect leader, who seemed to be in pain, taking uneven breaths and furrowing his eyebrows. "I can help him if you like," she offered softly.

Meng Yao looked at Wei (Y/n) in confusion. She smiled and cut her hand with the tip of Jù Lóng. Meng Yao's eyes widened, and he stood up, but Wei (Y/n) stopped him by putting her other hand in front of him before putting her hand on the cut, closing her eyes, and feeling warmth emanating from the injury. When she no longer felt the pain, she showed her previously injured hand to Meng Yao, who was shocked to see it perfectly fine.

"I have healing ability, as you have seen. I can heal his injuries if you allow me to," Wei (Y/n) explained.

Meng Yao stood up and bowed. "Please Young Lady, help Sect Leader Lan."

Wei (Y/n) stopped his bow and nodded. He smiled and stepped aside. Wei (Y/n) took out her flute, sat on the stool beside the bed, and started playing a soft melody with Yí Jūn near her mouth. She felt her energy transferring to the man beside her. Meng Yao looked confused as to why she pulled out her flute, but he watched in amazement as she worked her magic.

Meng Yao was initially confused as he watched the young lady begin to play the flute. However, his eyes widened when he noticed a greenish glow surrounding Sect Leader Lan, and his injuries began to heal while his face became calm. It was as though the lady was using her flute music to transmit her energy and heal Sect Leader Lan. When she finished playing, she smiled slightly, bowed, and left his side, leaving Meng Yao with the impression that she possessed a unique and powerful ability.
