It had been a week since Wei (Y/n) and the others had returned to Lotus Pier, and a week since She had taken in Wei Lifen. During this week, the young girl grew close to (Y/n) and couldn't bear to be apart from her. However, when (Y/n) had duties to attend to, Lifen would spend time with Jiang Yanli or Madam Yu. Due to Yanli's kind-hearted nature, Lifen enjoyed being with her. Similar to Wei Wuxian, Lifen developed a fondness for Yanli's soup, which brought great joy to Jiang Yanli. Surprisingly, Lifen also showed a preference for spending time with Madam Yu. The older woman would read to her from books about the history of Lotus Pier and recount tales of her own battles, taking her along wherever she went.

Lifen had gradually opened up and started to communicate with them. Though she didn't say much, this progress brought happiness to (Y/n). What came as both a shock and a delightful surprise was when Lifen referred to (Y/n) as Māma.

It was nighttime, and four days had passed since Wei (Y/n) had taken Lifen in. Lifen's room was situated right across from (Y/n)'s. The rain poured outside, and around midnight, (Y/n) was awakened by the sound of thunder. In the past, she hadn't been concerned about lightning; in fact, she found it fascinating to watch as it illuminated the sky with shades of blue and purple. However, the thought of Lifen made her jump out of bed without a second thought. Disregarding her attire, she was determined to ensure that Lifen was safe.

Upon reaching Lifen's room, (Y/n) quietly opened the door and entered. She didn't want to disturb the girl who lay in bed. To her surprise, Lifen wasn't sleeping; she was wide awake, tears streaming down her face. Silent sobs wracked her body as she tightly clutched the blanket, causing (Y/n)'s heart to ache. "A-Fen," (Y/n) whispered softly, causing the girl to flinch and turn towards her with fear in her eyes. "Don't...let it hurt me," Lifen whimpered, her voice trembling. (Y/n)'s eyes widened, but she chose not to inquire further. Instead, she sat down on the bed next to Lifen, offering comfort. "Nothing will harm you, A-Fen. I won't let anything happen," she reassured, gently running her fingers through Lifen's hair.

"P-promise?" Lifen looked up with wide, teary eyes, seeking assurance. "Yes, I promise," (Y/n) replied, leaning down slightly to plant a kiss on Lifen's forehead. "Will you stay... with me?" Lifen asked once again, and (Y/n) smiled, nodding in affirmation. "Go to sleep, little one," she whispered, and Lifen gazed at her. "I-I can't... It scares me," Lifen responded, her eyes darting toward the lightning that flashed again, causing the young girl to flinch.

(Y/n) comprehended the situation and summoned Yì Jūn. "Now, A-Fen, I want you to only listen to this and nothing else. Is that understood?" She stated, and Lifen nodded, unaware of what the elder was requesting her to listen to. However, her questions were answered when (Y/n) positioned the flute to her lips and began playing.

Lifen's eyes sparkled upon hearing the exquisite melody that overwhelmed the lightning flashes outside. She became completely captivated by it, and her eyes began to flutter close. (Y/n) set the flute down on the table, tucking her own hair behind her ear before gently brushing Lifen's hair away from her face. She lay down beside her, and Lifen instinctively embraced her. "Thank you... Māma," she whispered before drifting into a deep slumber.

Wei (Y/n)'s heart leaped with joy at being called Māma, and she smiled, kissing Lifen's head once more before falling asleep beside her.

Wei (Y/n) prepared to visit Su and her family, while Lifen stood there pouting. Observing Lifen's stance, Wei (Y/n) sighed as she grabbed her sword. "A-Fen, why don't you go to Madam Yu or Auntie Yanli?" she softly inquired, and Lifen shook her head, causing her to sigh again. This was the first time Lifen had acted like this, and she was weary. Despite repeatedly informing her that she couldn't go, Lifen remained stubborn, with a pout on her lips.
