Chapter: 41

Lotus Cove was in chaos. People were running around doing what Madame Yu or Jiang Yanli had directed them to do. Guest rooms were being cleaned to perfection and everything was to be perfect according to Madame Yu. Jiang Cheng and Wei (Y/n) were in the study discussing matters of regarding the Wen Clan people.

Jiang Yanli burst through the doors making both of them startled. "A-(Y/n)! Why are you still here!?" She said with her eyebrows furrowed and Wei (Y/n) smiled. "We were discussing--" she was cut off as her sister pulled her up by the arm.

"There is no time to!" Jiang Yanli pulled her out and looked at Jiang Cheng. "You too A-Cheng! Hurry get ready!" She said and whisked her sister away to Wei (Y/n)'s room. 

She pushed her behind the screen where a bath was ready. "Take a bath! I'll leave your robes here!" She called and walked out to retrieve her jewelry and hairpins. Wei (Y/n) shook her head at her sister's antics and lossened her hair before striping off her robes and entering the warm water.

After finishing, she stepped out and dried herself off. Then she wore the robes they had bought that day. She walked out from behind the screen and Jiang Yanli looked up and squealed. She rushed to Wei (Y/n)'s side and held her hands. "Oh You look absolutely wonderful!" She gushed and Wei (Y/n) smiled thanking her. She was soon led to a stool and Yanli took a comb in her hand and started to slowly brush her hair.

"Sect Leader Lan is really lucky to have you A-(Y/n)..." Jiang Yanli said after a while and Wei (Y/n) blushed red looking down making her sister straighten her head with a huff. Wei (Y/n) looked at her sister through the mirror and smiled speaking after a moment. "I can say the same... Childe Jin is lucky to have my Shijie."

A slight blush appeared on Jiang Yanli's face and she focused on doing her sister's hair. "Oh hush A-(Y/n).." She mumbled making Wei (Y/n) giggle. "I'm not wrong Shijie." She said making her sister smile lightly and hum as she finished doing her hair. After she had done she put in the hairpin and smiled in satisfaction as she stepped back to look at it. 

Jiang Yanli then walked to the front and picked up a wodden box and opened it holding it in front of Wei (Y/n). "Here.. Wear these.." She said and Wei (Y/n) picked the delicate earrings. "Shijie... Do I have to wear this?" At her question her sister only laughed taking the earrings and helping her put them on. "Of course.." Wei (Y/n) only sighed but allowed her sister to put them on.

After getting ready, they both made their way to the main hall where Madame Yu and Jiang Cheng were waiting. "You look beautiful dear." Madame Yu smiled at her softly. The time she was here the Purple spider had developed a soft spot for Wei (Y/n). She had thought of her as a second daughter since she had came to Yunmeng. Wei (Y/n) had regarded the older as a Mother figure and respected her as such.

Wei (Y/n) smiled at her compliment and nodded to Jiang Cheng who gave a small smile to his older sisters. "Should we go? They'll be arriving soon." Jiang Cheng asked and the three females nodded. Wei Ying... If only you were here... Wei (Y/n) thought sadly and followed them. They were waiting at the entrance to greet Wei (Y/n)'s in-laws when a male dressed in red and black came running and panting.

"I-I'm h-here!" He said as he hunched over trying to catch his breath. "Wei Wuxian! Why are you so late?! I told you to be here early!" Madame Yu scolded and Wei (Y/n) looked between them confused. "Shijie...?" She looked at her sister who only smiled and took out a napkin and began to wipe sweat off Wei Ying's face. "He's your only blood family A-(Y/n)... This matter needs his attention." Madame Yu smiled lightly and Jiang Cheng nodded. 

"You could've told me." Wei (Y/n) sighed but smiled nonetheless. Wei Ying who had finally caught his breath smiled and went up to her, hugging her. "Didn't you want me here?" He said in a teasing way and she pushed him away. "Its not that.. I was just surprised." She defended but her brother laughed patting her head. "My little sister is all grown up now!" 

"Who says I'm younger!? What if you're the younger one?" She asked irritated making her sworn sister and brother laugh at their bickering. "Alright Alright.. Stop this. They're coming." Madame Yu said and both siblings stopped what they were doing and looked up. And sure enough the prominent family of Lan was arriving on their swords.

When they landed and sheathed their swords. As soon as Lan Xichen turned to face them, his eyes stuck on his fiancée. She looked beautiful. Beautiful was an understatement to describe her in his opinion. And when she sent a small smile to him, his heart nearly stopped. He gulped and a small smile appeared on his face.

Lan Wangji on the hand was wide eyed looking at Wei Ying who avoided his gaze fiddling with the tassel of his flute. The three Lan's walked forward and they exchanged salutes. "I hope you all had a safe journey." Jiang Cheng spoke and Lan Xichen smiled nodding, his flicking over to Wei (Y/n).  "We should head inside." Madame Yu said making them nod as she led them to the main hall.

"Bàba!!" A young voice squealed as a little girl ran towards Lan Xichen as soon as they were in the hall. Wei Lifen hugged Lan Xichen's legs and the male smiled patting her head. His Uncle, Brother and Brother-In-Law looking at both of them with raised eyebrows. "A-Fen! Behave." At Wei (Y/n)'s words the little girl pouted parting from Lan Xichen and stepped back saluting the Lans. "Greetings to Elder Lan, Uncle Wangji." She said making Lan Qiren smile and Lan Wangji stepped forward patting her head.

"How has A-Fen been?" He asked and she smiled. "I've been well!" Wei Ying pouted and crossed his arms. "My niece didn't even greet me.." He said and the girl turned to him with wide eyes. "Uncle Ying!! You came back!!" She ran to him and the male picked her up allowing her to wrap her arms around his neck hugging him. "I missed you!" She said clinging on to him and Wei Ying chuckled rubbing her back softly. "As did I A-Fen.." He smiled.

Everyone else observed the interaction between the two with soft smiles. "A-Fen you should go now dear..." At Madame Yu's words Wei Ying smiled and put her down on her feet. "Go on.. Later I'll play with you." He whispered making her smile and nod excitedly. She waved at all of them and skipped out. Jiang Yanli smiled and excused herself as well going after Wei Lifen.

Madame Yu turned to the Lans and gestured to the seats. "Please have a seat." After they all and sat down and tea was served, the discussion began. Well it was mostly Madame Yu and Lan Qiren talking with occasional input from Jiang Cheng. Wei (Y/n) and Lan Xichen were sharing glances. Wei (Y/n) looked down but could still feel Lan Xichen's gaze on her.

Lan Wangji was looking at Wei Ying. Both of them looked at each other without blinking seemingly conversing with their eyes. Lan Wangji's face looked troubled but Wei Ying's seemed comforting. 

The four of them were broken out of their trances when Lan Qiren called Wei (Y/n). The girl looked at him and the elder smiled. "We can't wait for these two months to pass so the future Madame Lan comes to Cloud Recesses." At his words she blushed looking down but nodded lightly. Wei Ying now looked at Lan Xichen, his eyes hardening slightly.

"I hope Sect Leader Lan looks after my sister, otherwise we will have a war." He threatened his Brother-In-Law, his expression serious but Jiang Cheng nodded along with what his senior brother had said. Wei (Y/n) looked at him "Wei Ying!" She whispered sharply. "I assure Childe Wei and Sect Leader Jiang again that I will take care of A-(Y/n) and will keep her safe." Lan Xichen said with a smile looking at his fiancée.

The girl blushed red and Wei Ying smiled brightly. "Well then its set! Congratulations Brother-In-Law you have my blessing!" He said making Madame Yu sigh at him as she placed a hand on her forehead. Jiang Cheng stood up and smiled lightly. "I invite you to stay here in Lotus Cove tonight as the journey back is time consuming and tiring." He said and Lan Xichen stood up with a smile. "I thank Sect Leader Jiang for the offer." Both sect leaders exchanged salutes. Jiang Cheng called and disciple who saluted and began to lead the Lans to their designated rooms.

Madame Yu turned to Wei (Y/n) and smiled. "Go on.. I know you want to talk with him.."  At her words Wei (Y/n) blushed but nodded going after them.
