It had been a week since Wei (Y/n) knew of her brother's death. A week of immense pain she endured. A week of regret. A week of being at loss for what to do.
She always went with Wangji as he played inquiry. Staying there and helping in any way she could. Sometimes staying there till the black enveloped the world. Her husband would come to get her when it was too late.
When she came back this particular evening she found her son playing in their room and a small smile lit up her features. She had been too distant from her children in the past week.
She gently picked him up and sat down on the bed, the child laughing at this. She smiled kissing his head. "Has my little Gem been well?" Lan Zhixin smiled nodding excitedly making her chuckle.
"That's good. Where's Baba?" She asked with a smile and kissed his small hands. The child pointed at the back door.
"Out!" She smiled at his words and picked him in her arms, going out the door to her husband.
"A-Huan?" She called and he turned to her, and a small tired smile appeared on his lips. "A-(Y/n)... You're back." He folded the piece of paper in his hand, and she noticed.
"A letter?" She went over to him and shifted Zhixin in one arm, and placed the other hand on his cheek. "What happened?"
"It was a letter from Huaisang.. he wrote that Da-Ge has been becoming angrier as the days pass. Yesterday he had the disciples train till most of them passed out, and broke the door to his study in a fit of rage.." he sighed placing a hand on top of hers.
"I see... Should we go visit them? I can check him to see what's being a bother to him." She said softly and he nodded, "That would be best... I will let Da-Ge know."
"Make sure he doesn't know Childe Nie sent this letter.. he might get angrier at him." He nodded at her words. "I will send the letter then let's go visit Caiyi Town." He said with a smile and she nodded, "Let's go then.." she said with a similar smile.
"I'll change Xin'er while you write the letter." He nodded and both of them went inside the room, Lan Xichen going over to the study table to write the letter while Wei (Y/n) took her son to be changed.
After she had Zhixin changed, she picked him up going over to Lan Xichen as he had just finished writing the letter.
"I'll go inform uncle." She told her husband who nodded with a smile, "Let's meet at the entrance." She chuckled at his words and nodded. Lan Zhixin struggled in her arms to be set down and she set him on his feet. The child laughed and began to walk with her.
He could walk properly now so it made him happy to walk with his mother. And occasionally gripping her robes, as if assuring himself she wasn't going anywhere.
The female slowed her pace to meet her son's and lead him first to tell Lan Qiren and then to the main gate, waiting for her husband to come.
When Lan Xichen came, She smiled at him. "Let's go." He nodded to her words, a gentle look on his face as he carried their son."It's been too long since we went to Caiyi Town... A lot has changed." Lan Xichen said softly and she chuckled.
"I doubt. The energy there would be the same." She said and fixed her veil as they began to descend. "A-Fen is getting quite good in her cultivation." She said after a while and Lan Xichen let out an airy laugh. "There is no surprise. She is after all Wangji's precious disciple."
A smile bloomed on her face. "That explains how her habits are getting similar to her uncle's." Zhixin was smiling and happily looked around, "Butterfly!" He said excitedly, seeing the colorful wings of the butterfly. A beautiful laugh escaped (Y/n)'s lips and she extended her hand.
