Chapter: 44

Wei (Y/n) was led outside by her sister and Madame Yu. She could hear chattering of people and she could only see the silhouette of her husband. From what she could see through the red embroidered veil she could make out the outlines of her brothers and other people.

Lan Xichen's palms sweated as he stood outside the residence. Only a few more hours and she would be his. His heart nearly stopped as he saw her being led down by Madame Yu and Jiang Yanli. She looked so beautiful in Red. Even though he couldn't see the face yet, he knew she looked ethereal.

He had been dreaming of seeing her in This traditional red since their engagement was fixed. He smiled at her, even if she couldn't see his smile, her grace was unmatched. Maybe he was just biased to her because she was his wife.

The people hushed as she was led down the stairs. "We are handing our sister to you Sect Leader Lan, Care for her well." She could hear her older sister say as she let go of her hand. Her hand was soon in a familiar one. His hand felt so warm and comforting in contrast to her own cold one. She could hear his smile as he replied.

"I promise I will.." He said as he squeezed her hand reassuringly, Wei (Y/n) returning the gesture. She was soon helped in the Sedan by Lan Xichen himself who let her hand go with another loving squeeze. 

As soon as she sat in the Sedan the curtain fell over the entrance covering the inside. Wei (Y/n) could hear Wei Lifen from outside as she chatted with her uncle. Her lips were pulled up in a soft smile as she heard the excited whispers and sounds from outside.

Lan Xichen sat on his horse as they proceeded to Gusu, Cloud Recesses,Her new home. Behind the Sedan, were rows of people carrying Dowry Madame Yu had prepared for Wei (Y/n). It was just as much as Jiang Yanli's of not more than that.

(Y/n) yawned as she felt sleepy and tired. She blinked her eyes to clear them of tears. Truth be told she hadn't slept much for three days but the adrenaline and the excitement was more empowering than the tiredness. 

They stopped when they were in the Cloud Recesses. Wei (Y/n)'s heart sped up, only in a few moments she would be performing the rites and become Madame Lan, Lan Xichen's wife. 

"Set down the Sedan." A person's voice rung from the outside and the Sedan was placed on the ground. Wei (Y/n) sat still, waiting for the signal for when she could exit. Before the bride got out, the groom would shoot an arrow at the Sedan making an initial show of his strength.

All the procedures which had to be done here passed without any hindrance and soon Wei (Y/n) was being guided into the main hall. During the entire time, Wei (Y/n) could feel the happiness of Lan Xichen as he held her hand, leading her due to her vision being obstructed by the veil.

When they stopped walking any further, Wei (Y/n) guessed that this is the place where they'd be performing the rites. A loud voice of the person presiding over the wedding rung out as he announced the official start of the ceremony. 

"First, Bow to the Heaven and Earth!" 

Lan Xichen guided Wei (Y/n) in the correct direction and both of bowed down.

"Second, Bow to the Parents!"

Lan Xichen's parents had died when he was young, leaving his uncle to care for him and his brother. So in behalf of his parents, Lan Qiren sat on the spot. Lan Xichen helped Wei (Y/n) to face him and both of them bowed again. Wei (Y/n) could sense that Lan Qiren was happy, after all His nephew was getting married.

"Third, Bow to each other!" 

Lan Xichen and Wei (Y/n) do so, both bowing deeply to each other, smiles on their faces. They bow for quite sometime until Lan Xichen helps her up again. 

"The ceremony has been completed! Send them to the Bridal Chamber!" 

They both went to the bridal chamber, where they had to perform some other rites according to the traditions. This was done with the help of the female elders of the Lan Clan. Both Lan Xichen and Wei (Y/n) were led to the bed and both sat down.  

One of the elders poured a cup of nuptial wine handing it to Wei (Y/n) and another one was handed to Lan Xichen. Both of them drunk the half cup of wine and then handed it back to the elders. The elders exchanged the cups and handed them each others cup from which they finished drinking the remaining wine. After it was done they both ate some foods together,also feeding each other while saying the auspicious words.

After the rites are done Lan Xichen was escorted out and Wei (Y/n) remained in the bridal chamber. The newly wed Groom had to go to toast and greet the guests outside while the newlywed Bride stayed in the chamber. 

Wei (Y/n)'s smile didn't leave her face for a moment and her heart seemed to be bursting from joy and happiness. She fiddled with the hems of her robes sleeves as she waited for her husband to return. 

Husband... She smiled to herself. If few years ago someone had told her she would be marrying Lan Xichen she wouldn't have believed them but that is what life was. Being Unbelievable and unpredictable.

She didn't know how much time had passed when she heard the door being opened. Her heart hammered in her chest as she felt Lan Xichen sit in front of her. The Gusu Sect Leader raised steady hands to take of the veil from her head.

As soon as he done that his eyes met her (e/c) ones. He looked at her with a awestruck expression. And just when he thought she couldn't be any more beautiful she smiled.

Lan Xichen's robes were red with cloud patterns on the hems of his sleeves. It robes had some assents of blue and white to represent his clan. His forehead ribbon was the same but the normal silver hairpiece had been swapped for a Gold one.

He was still staring at her when she raised her hand making the bangles on her wrist jingle and poked his cheek softly. He blinked once, then twice before a smile pulled up his lips.

"Husband, what are you looking at?" She asked mischievously with her eyes twinkling. The way she called him husband made him feel warm. He neared her face and smiled again whispering. "Just when I think you can't be any more beautiful, you make me speechless." He said and backed away smiling, his words making her blush.

"Let me first help you with your hair." He said smiling and sat behind her taking out the hairpins delicately and straightening her hair. After he had taken out all the pins her hair fall down on her back. In the meantime she took off the Bangles on her wrist leaving only the red bracelet her brother had made for her.

Wei (Y/n) helped him with his hair, taking off the headpiece and letting his long hair fall loosely over his shoulders. Now that the weights on their beads were removed both of them help each other out of the layers of the wedding robes and soon they sit facing each other only in their inner robes.

Lan Xichen held her hands and kissed the back of it softly. He smiled again as he traced the back of her hand. Only now did Wei (Y/n) see the identical red bracelet on his wrist as well. She smiled at her brother's thought and Lan Xichen noticed her gaze smiling as he spoke. "Brother-In-Law had me wear this.. He said he personally made these for us and will keep us safe." After he spoke she smiled and the room sank in silence again.

"I can't believe I'm finally married to you..." She spoke softly. "...I'm very happy A-Huan..." She said sincerely and her husband smiled leaning down slightly so he could kiss her forehead. "As am I.. To finally have you here beside me as my wife, My Lady and the Madame of the Lan Clan." He said and dipped his head again pressing his lips against hers.

The changed their position a bit, so Wei (Y/n) was lying down on the bed with Lan Xichen hovering over her, his both hands on either sides of her head. She chuckled lightly "Eager are we Husband?" She asked as she wrapped her hands around his neck. She hesitantly moved a hand to touch his forehead ribbon. Lan Xichen sensing her hesitance held her hand placing it on the ribbon with a smile. 

"Today onward we're married A-(Y/n).... Let me show you how happy I am.." He whispered And She only smiled as well pulling on the ribbon so it became untied and his hair fell down to frame his face, some hair tickling her face. Lan Xichen looked at her and smirked dipping his head and kissing her on the lips passionately. Her arms wrapped around his neck pulling him close to deepen the kiss as her eyes closed fully....
