Chapter: 07

Wei Ying opened his eyes, but he found himself no longer in the forest. As he sat up, he surveyed the surroundings and realized he was in his own room. A woman dressed in a blue-purple hanfu caught his attention. With long black hair held together by a single beautiful blue pin, she sat at the table with her eyes closed, appearing as if she were asleep. Wei Ying didn't recognize her; she seemed unfamiliar to him.

Wei Ying was still staring at her when she suddenly spoke, "Don't you think it's rude to stare, brother?" Wei Ying was dumbfounded.

First, because he thought she was asleep, and second because she called him brother? As he was about to question her, suddenly he heard his name being called. He looked towards the source and saw his dear Shijie coming towards him. She smiled at the mysterious woman and sat at the edge of his bed.

"A-Xian how are you feeling?" Jiang Yanli asked and he smiled saying it was no big deal and dismissing her concern. "Huh? No big deal You were out cold for two days. If it wasn't for sister (Y/n) you would still be asleep" Jiang Cheng said confusing him even more.

Did he just... call that lady sister?

Wei Ying watched as Jiang Yanli smiled and said "A-Cheng, please pass the soup to me." However, instead of Jiang Cheng, the lady known now as (Y/n) got up and graciously handed the soup to her, and Jiang Yanli accepted it with gratitude. Wei Ying was about to question the unexpected turn of events, but Jiang Cheng interrupted him once again, scoffing, "Eat first, Wei Ying. You haven't eaten for days."

As Wei Ying was nearing the end of his soup, Jiang Fengmian approached, and everyone in the room bowed respectfully. Just as Wei Ying was about to stand up, he was stopped by Jiang Fengmian, a concerned expression on his face. He asked Wei Ying about his health and the events that took place in the cave. Without hesitation, Wei Ying recounted everything, sharing the details of his experience in the cave of slaughter.

Suddenly, the voice of Madam Yu, who had just entered, made Wei Ying shiver. He was sure she would scold him, but what she said surprised him. "You were out cold for two days. If it wasn't for your sister, you would still be half dead. You should be thankful to her." While her voice still carried some rudeness, it wasn't the same tone she used to address him before.

Madam Yu then turned towards (Y/n) and said, smiling, "A-(Y/n), when you're done here, come to me. We still have to discuss some things." The said woman smiled and bowed her head. After Madam Yu left, Jiang Fengmian turned to them and said, "We'll leave you two alone, You have some catching up to do.." Jiang Fengmian smiled and motioned for Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng to follow him.

Wei Ying watched as '(Y/n)' bowed toward them with a confused face. Maybe he felt so confused because of being unconscious and in such a weak state otherwise he was always the first one to access the situation. After they had left, she turned towards him and smiled softly "You don't know me do you?" She asked and Wei Ying shook his head.

Of course he didn't know who this mysterious girl was, He hadn't seen her in his entire life.

She sighed and then said, "I suppose I should introduce myself then." Wei Ying nodded, in between such confusion, an introduction sounded nice. She smiled and spoke with a bow of her head, "My name is Wei (Y/n)..."

Wei Ying's eyes widened. Wei (Y/n)!? Why did this female have the same surname as him? Was she related to his father in some way? As far as he knew his father did not have a sister or brother... So she couldn't be his cousin. Now his mind was even more confused but she continued to speak.

"I am your twin sister. I understand that this might be surprising because I suddenly appeared after 16 years. However, I also recently found out about you, so I came here searching for you." She said in a soft voice while looking down.

Many questions were running through his mind, uncounted but when he opened his mouth to speak, all he could manage to say was "Where were you?"

She looked up at the question and a soft sigh left her lips before she spoke, "I lived my entire life in the Celestial Mountain, with my Master, Baoshan Sanren. I didn't even know about having a brother much less a twin, But a few days ago I started having weird dreams and when I told Master about them, She told me everything that our mother had written in the letter she left with me."

Mother? Wei Ying couldn't wrap his head around the fact that his mother was the one to separate them both. They could have been together! All the times he had felt alone he could have someone to rely on.

"Why?" He asked looking at her with a frown tugging on his lips.

She kept quiet for a while then spoke "Because they were afraid I would be targeted for my powers..." From her tone, he could tell that she was sad. She would be, she had no proof, and if he had denied her the only one that could testify to her here, was Jiang Fengmian.

As Wei Ying looked at her, he could see a clear resemblance between himself and her. The way her lips pulled up into a frown and her eyes. They were exactly the same, well except the (e/c) irises that were unique.

"Powers? What kind of powers?" Wei Ying questioned again, his voice softening as he looked at her for answers. As she explained everything she had knowledge of, he finally understood why their parents decided to take such a drastic step and leave her there.

"It's Alright if you don't accept me..." She said after she had told everything, her eyes closed to not let a single tear out and her hands slightly clenched. But she was surprised as she felt someone hugging her close. She was too stunned for a moment but soon reciprocated, Hugging him and letting the tears fall.

Wei Ying was crying too, happy to finally have someone... Someone who shared the same blood as him.

"I will protect you. I promise.." He whispered softly, placing his hand on the back of her head and holding her closer. "I'll be here..." She heard his soft whispers and a smile came to her face. She was finally with her dearest brother.

When he pulled away, she couldn't help but give a teary laugh and took out a napkin, using it to clean his face of the tears.

"We are together finally," She said softly as they both sat, Wei (Y/n) preparing tea for the two of them. After a while, Wei Ying looked at her, "Do you know someone by the name of Xiao Xingchen?" He asked and she perked up at that. "I do, Did you meet him?" She asked and a smile came on Wei Ying's face. "I did..."

"How is he?" She asked and he smirked at that, "Why do you want to know eh?" Her face looked shocked at his tone and she lightly pushed him "It's nothing you are imagining. I haven't seen Big Brother Xingchen for 2 years, ever since he left the mountain, so that's why I asked you."

"Ahh.." He nodded at that and sheepishly chuckled.

They both talked for hours, he told her about his time in Cloud Recesses and his adventures. She told him about her dream and advised him to be careful.
They were finally together and she would not allow any harm or danger to come to her brother...
