The Qinghe Nie Clan, the martial arts conference, a grand gathering of martial arts practitioners from all over the world. A massive crowd gathered, and Wei (Y/n) entered with her husband, her face covered as always. Given that both she and Xichen had come here two days ahead, they had spent a lot of time with the Nie brothers.
Xichen had always been the sworn brother who was always trying to make things right between Guangyao and Mingjue. When this time, Wei (Y/n) said the same, Mingjue joked that she had become the same as Lan Xichen and that it was only expected since they were married.
Upon entering the main hall, Wei (Y/n) quickly pinpointed her junior brother and his wife. She smiled at Xichen, squeezing his hand.
"I'll go greet Jiang Cheng." She smiled, and he nodded, letting go of her hand with a smile. "Of Course. I will go to A-Yao. He looks disturbed." Both parted their ways with a smile.
"A-Cheng, A-Qing." She greeted them with a warm smile, and they smiled as well. "Da-Jie! I didn't expect to see you here. It's nice to see you." He greeted her back softly.
"Madame Lan." Wen Qing was as calm as ever, and (Y/n) chuckled. "How have you been?" She asked with a smile, and Jiang Cheng hardly held back the grin threatening to appear on his face.
"Da-Jie..." he began, looking at Wen Qing, who nodded, "We're expecting our first child..." he smiled, and Wei (Y/n) immediately smiled, "That's wonderful news! Congratulations to both of you."
"You as well, Madame Lan. Your condition was brought to our attention by Madame Yu." Wen Qing gave her a small smile, and Wei (Y/n) gave her hand a light squeeze.
They talked for a while before Jiang Cheng left them both to speak with some sect leaders. After some time, Wei (Y/n) remembered, "Is A-Yuan well?" She asked softly, and Wen Qing nodded. "He is. He is a quiet boy, but he's learning well."
"Hm, I wanted to ask you for something." She looked at her, and Wen Qing nodded for her to continue. "I want to take A-Yuan to Gusu."
"Gusu?" She frowned a little. "I know you're well aware... of my brother and Lan Wangji's relationship... He talked to me once... He wants to bring A-Yuan there and teach him himself."
Wen Qing was quiet for a few moments, but then sighed and nodded, giving in. "If he wants to leave with Hanguang-Jun, I won't stop him."
Wei (Y/n) smiled at her and nodded. "I wonder where Xichen is... I haven't seen him at all," she said quietly as she looked around.
Nie Mingjue was frowning as he walked through the corridors. He was looking for Lan Xichen, as he had something very critical to discuss.
"Er-Ge.." He paused when he heard Jin Guangyao and Lan Xichen. "A-Yao, you seem worried... Is everything alright?"
Guangyao sighed and paused for a few moments. "Da-Ge.." He admitted it, and Mingjue frowned, wanting to go in but deciding not to, and began to listen in on their conversation.
"I'm afraid that Da-Ge doesn't trust me. Even now." He said, and Lan Xichen looked at him in worry. "He does..."
"You don't have to lie, Er-Ge. You know he doesn't." Mingjue's frown deepened as he heard him speak.
"He called me something I never expected him to do... Why? Because he doesn't like me... He may have before, but not now... Tell me, Er-Ge, what did I ever do?" He continued, looking up at Lan Xichen, who was about to answer when Nie Mingjue burst through the door.
"Oh, I'll tell you what you did." Mingjue gritted his teeth and sneered at him. "You snake..." Nie Mingue's eyes began to turn bloodshot, and Lan Xichen panicked.
"Da-Ge, please calm down." He stepped between the two males, trying to dissipate the tension between them.
"Xichen, move away! If you hadn't come in the way back then, I would have killed this traitor already!" He yelled at the male, his aura darkening.
"Da-Ge!!" Xichen was desperate as he tried to calm his brother and motioned for Guangyao to leave. But this was not a good idea because as soon as Guangyao came into Mingjue's peripheral vision, he blasted the male with a surge of spiritual energy.
Guangyao clenched his chest as he looked at Mingjue in fear. The voice startled the disciples all around.
"Sect Leader?" One of his commanders walked up to Nie Mingjue. Lan Xichen rushed ahead as well, taking out his xiao and playing to calm him down. But it did not affect Nie Mingjue as he raised Baxia and brought it down on the male next to him.
The commander didn't even have the chance to speak as his neck was cut and he dropped down. The young disciples around him screamed and began to run around, trying to get away from Nie Mingjue, who went on a rampage.
The commotion caused Wei (Y/n) to rush out, followed by Jiang Cheng and Wen Qing. "Da-Ge!!" When she saw the man, she cried; feeling sensitive due to her condition, her eyes glistened with tears. She rushed ahead, pulling out her flute and immediately putting it to her lips to play.
"Da-Ge!!" Huaisang yelled too, trying to go to him, but Gin Guangyao stopped him, tears in his eyes. "Stop! He will hurt you too!"
Nie Huaisang continued to yell, thrashing in his hold. Mingjue had killed many of the disciples that were in his range. His hair was disheveled, and he stopped for a moment to look at Huaisang. His eyes softened, and his hold on Baxia's hilt was loosening. He staggered ahead, wanting to hug his younger brother.
"A-Sang... Don't cry...Da-Ge will... protect you." He whispered, and Wei (Y/n), thinking he had calmed down, rushed next to him. "Da-Ge.." Her voice was soft, but he didn't even look at her as his eyes were fixated on the male next to his younger brother. He stopped, his frown deepening as he saw the male's lip twitch up a little.
Those robes... The Sparks amidst snow...Jin Guangyao...
His spiritual energy burst unexpectedly, pushing aside everything, including Wei (Y/n). Her eyes widened as she flew backward due to the force, and against the wall. Her arms were instinctively wrapped around her stomach, and the air was pushed out of her lungs. A choked sob left her lips as her jade hairpin broke when she fell against the hard floor. She groaned in pain, her sight blurring.
"A-(Y/n)!!!!"
The last thing she heard was her husband calling her and Nie Mingjue's blurry body falling as Nie Huaisang yelled before she lost consciousness.
