Chapter: 42

Wei (Y/n) made her way to Lan Xichen's room and knocked on the door softly. The door was opened and Lan Xichen stood there smiling. "A-(Y/n).. Come inside." He stepped aside and allowed her to enter. After closing the door he hugged her from behind resting his head on her shoulder. "My Lady... Only two more months till I take you with me." He spoke softly and Wei (Y/n) blushed but nodded nonetheless.

She smiled but her smile morphed into a frown. "How about A-Fen? She doesn't know we're getting married..." She whispered and Lan Xichen smiled. "We could tell her together... I'm sure she would understand." He said and his soon to be wife smiled, turning in his arms so she was face to face with him.

Lan Xichen kissed her forehead and she smiled. "Would you like to go on a walk with me? There is some time before dinner is served." At her words Lan Xichen smiled. "How could I deny an offer from My Lady?"Wei (Y/n) blushed. "A-Huan.. Don't call me like that..." She whispered embarrassed and He chuckled. "Why not My Lady?" At his words she huffed but he laughed dipping his head to kiss her on the lips.

"Let's go?" He asked after parting and she only nodded trying to keep her blush under control. Lan Xichen took her hand and guided her out, a smile on both of their faces. They both passed Lan Wangji's room and heard two voices. One Wei (Y/n) identified as her Brother-In-Law and the other of her twin brother. Both Wei (Y/n) and Lan Xichen shared a glance and smiled quietly walking away from their room.

"Wangji has developed a deep affection for Childe Wei." Lan Xichen spoke and his Fiancée nodded in agreement. "I can say the same for Wei Ying." She chuckled. "I just hope they can be together..." She said with a sigh and Lan Xichen nodded squeezing her hand. 

Both of them walked to the back of Lotus cove where Wei (Y/n) enjoyed coming due to the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Both of them sat down on the grass with Wei (Y/n) leaning on Lan Xichen's chest and the male playing with the free strands of her hair. "A-(Y/n).." He called and the girl hummed.

"..I haven't said it but you look beautiful... Like a pure flower growing in the wilderness... Like the moon that shines its brightest... Like an angel..." His voice lowered as he rested his head on her shoulder, his arms wrapping around her waist hugging her from behind. "...My beautiful Wife..." He said and leaned up to kiss her cheek.

Wei (Y/n) turned red on his words. "I'm not your wife yet A-Huan..." She said after a while and he laughed. "Wife or Wife to be... Same thing." He said and the girl turned her head to him, making him peck her lips. "Now don't deny it please.. I'm very happy." He said making her roll her eyes slightly. "Whatever you wish My Lord." Now at her words Lan Xichen's ears turned red.

"But You should wear jewelry often.. It suits you." He said as he picked a flower and tucked it in her hair. Wei (Y/n) smiled and nodded, ready to wear jewelry if Lan Xichen liked it. She looked up at the sky as she noticed darkness. The sun had set and the first stars of the night were making their appearance. "We should go back... Its almost dinner time." She said and Lan Xichen agreed with her words. 

He stood up and extended his hand out to Wei (Y/n). She took his hand and smiled lightly standing up. Lan Xichen then pulled out something from his robe's sleeve and looked at his soon to be wife. "A-(Y/n).. You know I am very happy to have you in my life and I can't explain how much you mean to me..." He opened his palm to show her the beautiful necklace on his palm.
 "...This is my mother's. I always saw her wear this till she died..." He took a few steps and stood behind her. "...Today I give it to you, Just as my Father gave to my mother... I hope you will always wear it and keep it safe." He said and Wei (Y/n) felt her eyes tear up. 
After Lan Xichen had hooked the chain around her neck, he gently turned her around and wiped away the first tear that fell from her eye. "I don't like seeing tears in you eyes.." He whispered before leaning down and kissing her again, however this time with more passion. She reciprocated and kissed him back. When they parted she smiled placing her hand on the necklace. "I promise I will always keep it safe A-Huan." She said and he smiled taking her hand and kissing it. "We should go now.. The elders must be waiting." She nodded and he entwined their fingers before leading her back. 
When they got there everyone was already sitting around the table. Both of them smiled nervously and took their seats. "Zewu-Jun where did you take my sister?" Wei Ying asked raising his eyebrow and his sister glared at him. "We went for a walk." She answered with slight irritation. Lan Qiren only smiled observing the exchange while Wei (Y/n)'s family sighed used to the whole ordeal.
"Zewu-Jun must not be doing anythin--" "A-Xian." Jiang Yanli cut off her younger brother and Madame Yu nodded. "Please let's begin." She smiled and they all began to eat. The table was quiet except the chatter of Wei Ying and Wei Lifen. The little girl missed her uncle too much and wanted to let him know of everything that happened while he was gone.

After they had eaten everyone excused themselves and went to their rooms except Lan Xichen and Wei (Y/n) who went to Wei Lifen's room. Wei (Y/n) was fiddling with her fingers as she was very nervous. Lan Xichen took her and squeezed it gently. "Relax.. It'll be alright." He whispered softly and she nodded before knocking on the door.

They heard a quiet doing of feet and the door opened revealing Wei Lifen. "Māma! Bàba! Come in!" She smiled brightly taking both of their hands and leading them inside. After they had sat down by the table, Lan Xichen smiled clearing his throat. "How have you been A-Fen?" He asked and she smiled. "I've been good! I really missed you.." She said but smiled. "But now you're here! You'll stay right?" She asked hopefully and Lan Xichen smiled sadly.

"I would've loved to stay but I can't A-Fen..." At his words the young girl frowned. "Why not?" Wei (Y/n) smiled lightly.  "Because he has to go back to Gusu as he is the Sect Leader." She explained and Wei Lifen looked crestfallen. 

"A-Fen..." Lan Xichen called her softly and the girl looked up. "... Do--... Would you want me to be your Father?" He asked and the girl tilted her head confused. "But I already call you Bàba?" She said with a puzzled look and Lan Xichen smiled. "You do call me that and I'm glad... But no one else knows that you are my daughter." He looked at Wei (Y/n) and smiled.

"...Your Mother and I are getting married soon... That'll make you my daughter." He said and Wei (Y/n) nodded to his words. "Married?" Wei Lifen asked with a blank look and both of them shared a worried glance. "That means Māma will go with you?" She asked with her eyes wide and Lan Xichen smiled patting her head. "Māma and A-Fen will both go with me if A-Fen wants." He answered and Wei Lifen smiled brightly. 

"Yes! I will go with you!!" She hugged Lan Xichen and he smiled hugging her back. Wei (Y/n) released a breath she didn't know she was holding then smiled. "Come now A-Fen.. Its time to sleep." She said as she stood up. "Won't you play for me Māma?" Wei Lifen asked and Lan Xichen smiled. "We will both play for you." He said as the girl laid down on her bed.

Wei (Y/n) summoned Yì Jūn and Lan Xichen summoned Lièbīng. Both of them sat by the table and shared a nod with a smile and began to play. Their synchronization was perfect and the melody was soft. Wei Lifen yawned and closed her eyes falling into a deep sleep in a matter of minutes. 

After a few moments the stopped playing and shared a sweet smile before standing up. Wei (Y/n) tucked Wei Lifen's hair behind her ear then softly kissed her forehead. Lan Xichen straightened her blanket before kissing her head and leaving with Wei (Y/n). As Wei (Y/n)'s room was right across Lifen's, Lan Xichen walked with her to her door. "I'm glad we told Lifen." She said and Lan Xichen smiled nodding. "Me as well. You should rest now.." He said before he kissed her on the lips. "Sweet Dreams." He said when they parted and he sent her a smile walking away.

Wei (Y/n) closed the door behind her and began to get ready for bed but She didn't take off the necklace Lan Xichen gave to her. I need to give A-Huan something as a marriage present as well.. She thought before closing her eyes and falling asleep.
