I'm starting to really doubt my writing skills and idk if I'm gonna continue this fic for much longer. I just feel like it's all shit and I shouldn't bother. I hope all of you are feeling good though! Stay safe x

The sky was getting dark but was clear. The sun had just set and there was still enough light from the emerging moon and stars to see and reflect off of the lake.

There weren't too many other people camped there, most of them probably fishermen and not  near to where Eddie and Lana had decided to park. Trees were spread sporadically around the edge of the still water and a few rickety, wooden docks leaned out onto it - one of which they'd decided to sit on, passing a cheap bottle of wine between each other.

They'd been laughing non stop and there were few silent gaps in the conversation. Lana was now sat rolling a blunt, a foot apart from Eddie.

"Are you sure you don't want me to roll that? I can see your hands are shaking." Eddie laughed. "If you're so cold I can go get the blanket."

"No way! I'm an independent woman Munson!" She giggled with a slight slur - feeling the effects of the wine.

He snorted with a smile and shook his head. "You do talk some shit, Blau!"

She turned and shot him a joking glare before continuing to roll, licking the paper and then taking another swig from the bottle.

It was cold enough for their breath to show in the air and they were gradually edging towards each other, secretly wanting to embrace the others body warmth but not feeling the courage to say it.

As Lana sparked the blunt, Eddie grabbed the bottle and took a few swigs from it, wanting to catch up to her level - and maybe gain some liquid courage.

"You know, five year old us would be so freaked out by us now. Especially you." He chuckled and then took another swig.

"Why especially me?" She turned to him with a curious smile.

"What do you mean why you? You're like... so different... I mean... look at you!" He half spluttered.

"Look at me?" She scoffed. "Look at you! Your hair and your tats and... You!"

Eddie thought about his thoughts earlier on - about how he hadn't changed much since he was a kid - and began to second guess it.

Maybe I've changed more than I thought.

That's probably a good thing.

"I mean I guess I can't imagine little Eddie expecting himself to grow up and have long hair or tattoos, you're right... But I'm still not as changed as you, I remember you loved pink - everything you wore was pink. Now you're a total pothead goth." He put on a voice for that last part, mocking the kids at school who'd call her that but also poking fun at Lana - who was self admittedly a bit of a total pothead goth.

She chuckled and handed him the blunt, looking out across the Lake with contentment. He made her feel safe and happy, and like maybe she could be a bit more open and honest.

"That's true." She exhaled and then turned to him with a smirk. "Still. You did like... get abs and kind of hot. I don't think I've reached that stage yet."
