They spent the rest of the night entangled in each others arms, gazing at the stars and occasionally at each other. As Lana spoke and pointed at patterns in the sky, he would place little kisses onto her neck and cheek, in complete awe of the girl; how she could go from being so upset to being happy and funny in a matter of minutes, and when she was happy and funny - her presence felt like bliss.
Lana was also in awe of the boy; his kind gentleness, his patience, how he managed to say just the right thing when she really needed it. The fact that he didn't just want her for sex - he liked her for her.
It felt too good to be true.
As it started to get really late, she was struggling to stay awake and would drift off mid conversation; something Eddie found adorable but didn't say out loud. He grabbed the blanket from the grassy floor - shaking it clean before draping it over Lana. Then found the small flashlight in the front seat and crawled into the back, closing the doors of the van which temporarily put them into complete darkness.
She didn't notice though, her eyes were closed - she was already nearly asleep. This made him quietly exhale out his nose in amusement as he shined the flashlight onto her and saw how she looked extremely cosy for someone sleeping on an air mattress in a cold, cramped van.
Cute.
And he brought the shit pillows too.
Why'd I bring the shitty flat pillows? I don't know how she's already falling asleep on those.
Mental note: bring the fluffy pillows next time.
Silently, he slid under the blanket and put an arm loosely around Lana, wanting to hold her tight but not trying to push her boundaries.
She almost immediately lifted her arm though and mumbled "cuddle" her lips barely parting to form the word.
Cute.
Happily, he slid his right arm under her body and held her closely to his chest, tightly spooning her and loosely draping his left arm over her stomach. His scent instantly hit Lana, making her belly go crazy with butterflies and his warmth made her feel safe and comfortable.
The success that that night had been was playing on her mind and she almost convinced herself that she had to be dreaming. Not only did he kiss her - a bunch of times - he also said so many romantic things to her.
And now she was ending the night, extremely warm and comfortable, wrapped in the arms of someone who made her feel actually safe.
For the first time in over a week she didn't have a nightmare.
Eddie fell asleep soon after she did, also completely giddy and entranced by thoughts of her and the night they had spent together.
When morning arrived, he was the first to wake up and lay in momentary shock that it hadn't all been a dream.
His head ached and his stomach hurt - thanks to the alcohol - but his chest felt light and excited. For a few minutes, he lay and inhaled her scent before slowly pulling his arms away and quietly opening the van door.
It was sunny out as they'd slept in quite late and there were fisherman in small boats going across the lake, but despite the sun it was still nippy and shortly after stretching his legs, he went back into the van and closed the door - unintentionally waking Lana up.
She yawned and stretched a little, taking a moment to realise where she was before smiling up at Eddie, her makeup smudged around her face.
"Morning... or should I say afternoon." He chuckled. "How you feeling?"
As soon as he asked, she suddenly felt a surge of pain and sickness run through her body and realised that she was very much hungover.
"Ughhh." She groaned, not entirely awake yet.
He chuckled at her and then began to pack up, getting ready to leave and drive to the nearest McDonald's - the best hangover cure.
They were soon on the road, both laughing and talking but with slightly less energy than the night before due to their tiredness. Still, they were giddy at each others presence and beaming at each other - even as they ate their food.
Both of them were thinking about the others lips; how badly they wanted to kiss them again, but there was also a slight nervous tension due to that.
What are they now?
Is this becoming a friends with benefits situation?
Is this a date?
When can we kiss next?
The whole ride back the tension remained, peaking when they arrived at the trailer park and Eddie stopped the car.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" He said, unsure.
"Yeah, sounds good." She responded, her tone also laced with uncertainty.
Is this it?
Are we just gonna go now?
They sat in awkward silence for another few seconds, neither of them moving, until Lana finally decided to give into her urges and craned her neck towards Eddie - feeling massively relieved when she saw him do the same.
The kiss was only short, but it was enough to fill them both with adrenaline and butterflies... and also mild disbelief at how well everything had gone.
When Lana got back to her trailer, she immediately rushed to the phone; excited to tell Robin everything, but was met with an unexpected voice from someone behind her.
"Oh Lana sweetie, guess who's back."
She recognised the voice instantly and her eyes widened.
