Y/n's POV:

I stepped out of the elevator and made my way to the stairs so that I could get to the roof, where Steve had told me to meet him.

As I stepped through the doors onto the roof, a cold gust of wind rushed at me so I pulled the sleeves of my big, soft hoodie over my hands.

"Y/n!" Smiled Steve, greeting me with a warm embrace.

"What are we doing up here?" I asked, "It's surprisingly cold."

"I know," he responded, walking me over to a bundle of cushions, throws, and a projector screen. "But that's why I brought blankets!"

I looked around, grinning from ear to ear.

Steve and I used to do movie nights fairly often to catch up on everything we'd missed but we hadn't found time since I had moved into the compound.

"Oh my gosh, is this-"

He nodded at me, smiling back.

"Thank you so much!" I flung my arms around him before quickly sitting down and wrapping myself in layers. "What are we watching?"

Steve sat down beside me and turned on the projector screen that displayed the title 'Beauty and the Beast'

"I know we've seen it before, but you said it was your favorite so I thought we could watch it again." He explained, handing me a warm bucket of popcorn and some Haribos.

"It's perfect." I reassured him.

I loved Nat, Wanda, and all the others, but my relationship with Steve was different. He was like an older brother (albeit a much much older one) and I knew he thought of me like a little sister.

I would never compare him to Adrian, my real brother, but I knew that if I had to take a positive thing away from losing him, it was that it lead me to Steve (and the others, of course).

I did feel a little bit bad that he didn't know about me and James, seeing as he was closer to both of us than to the rest of the team, but for some reason, I wasn't ready to tell anyone.

Maybe it was because I knew that all our privacy would be gone as soon as the others found out. Wanda and Nat would be plaguing me for information, Sam would make jokes about how I was 'going soft' and they would all tease me about the almost 360° turn in my opinion of Barnes.

I say almost 360° because he still irritated me, but at the same time, I could not get him out of my head. Especially not when he was pounding into me with the-

NOPE.

Now was not the time to be thinking about - well, that.

Now was the time for sitting down and watching a Disney movie with one of my closest friends, not imagining James Buchannan Barnes naked and on top of me.

Steve glanced in my direction and asked, "Everything alright?"

I nodded, not trusting my (apparently broken) brain to speak.

"Are you sure? Your cheeks are flushed." He handed me a bottle of water as I nodded again.

Well shit.

"Yeah, Just thirsty.." I answered, I don't think he bought it but he dropped it anyway.

The movie was just as amazing as the last time we saw it, although I think Steve had been studying the lyrics because he could now sing along to every song without interruption.

If only the people of the world could see the stubborn and serious 'Captain America' now.

"Oh!" Steve added, coming back to sit next to me after a mini dance break. "I thought you should know that I'm glad you and Buck are finally getting along."

I tilted my head to the side, it was a bit random.

"I haven't seen him this happy or relaxed in a while; he even stuck around for most of the party last week and he normally tries to bail on those as soon as possible."

For some reason, this little bit of information made me light up inside. Was I making Bucky happy? No, it was probably just a coincidence, I'm pretty sure I just stressed him out.

"Seriously Y/n, what happened?" He chuckled.

"Well, after you and Tony kept shoving us together on missions, we had to find some common ground." I said, which was kind of the truth. "He's not the worst person I've ever met."

Steve looked shocked. "Was that a compliment? Did I hear Y/n L/n just compliment James Barnes?"

"No!" I laughed.

"You did! This must be a first," he continued, watching as I shook my head in his hands. "I am honored to be here today to witness this momentous occasion..."

"Alright, you don't need to give another one of your speeches." I quipped, hitting him on the arm with the back of my hand.

"You missed the one on my birthday so you are due one." He pointed out.

"They made you give a speech on your birthday? Harsh."

Steve just shrugged, "I've done enough of them. I'm used to it now."

"Well, I'm sorry we can't all be Mr. Propaganda." I joked as Steve brought me in for another hug.

"I've missed these." He said.

"Me too Steve, me too." I agreed.
