Bucky's POV:
"Hey Buck," Steve called from across the living room, "Wanna take our bikes for a ride?"
"Sure," I replied, standing up and following him out of the room.
It had been ages since we had just gone out to ride them for fun, and it had been ages since I spent some time with Steve alone so I didn't hesitate to grab my stuff and go down to the garage.
"Where are we headed?" I asked, sitting on my bike and putting on my helmet.
"Don't mind, shall we just ride and see where it takes us?" He asked, getting on his own bike.
I nodded and we started to drive.
An hour or two later, we were sitting by some random lake and trying to skim stones across the surface while we talked about all kinds of random shit.
"So, You and Y/n are getting along better now..." Steve commented.
"Um, yeah. I guess." I replied, throwing another stone.
"What started that?" He asked, "You two were at each other's throats for a pretty long time..."
"I don't know..." I said.
The whole thing was very confusing and I didn't know where we stood. It had surprised me when Y/n had helped me with that nightmare and since then we had even had a couple of conversations that weren't pre- or post-sex.
Now that we had started to get to know each other, she was actually a pretty nice and interesting person.
Did I get the impression that she would kill me for a packet of twinkies?
Yes.Does she like twinkies?
No.Would it just be an excuse to murder me?
Absolutely. And don't get me wrong, there were still plenty of times when I wanted to murder her too, but they were becoming fewer and fewer. It had dropped off once per hour, to once per day which was pretty impressive.
"I guess I just realized that she's not that bad." I added, "You and Tony forcing us to spend time together wasn't particularly helpful though." Which was almost the truth. We wouldn't have spoken to each other at all if it weren't for the cruise mission, but it did cause quite a few arguments.
Steve looked at me like I had said something particularly interesting before turning his head back to the pond and skimming another stone.
It was something we used to do when we were younger, but the super serums had improved both our stone-skimming skills so that instead of being happy when the stones bounced three or four times, they were regularly bouncing thirty or forty times so we had given up counting them.
"I've known her a long time..." Steve mentioned.
"I know," I threw another stone, "she told me."
I thought I saw Steve smirk from the corner of my eye before continuing to speak, "She's changed recently." He said, "For the better, I reckon."
Could that be because of me? No. She was almost definitely plotting my murder right now.
"That's...good." I replied. "Any clue why?"
Steve shrugged and shook his head, but I swear a smile appeared on his face.
"Race back to the compound?" I suggested, trying to change the topic. I didn't understand my relationship with Y/n well enough to talk to anyone else about it.
"Sure," He replied.
