Y/n's POV:
Bucky and I hadn't stopped fucking for the past week. That was the most socially acceptable way to put it. It was like we were fucking feral or something. Other than a few times where Buck had been MIA, every moment we hadn't spent sleeping or with the team, we had been fucking.
But not right now. Right now, standing in front of my open closet, "preparing" for a surprise sunset date. All the instructions I had been given were 'wear enough clothes, but not so many that you'll overheat.'
Real specific. Thanks, Bucky.
*Where are we going?* I asked, *And why can't you just pick for me?*
I didn't even know where he was as he replied, *Wear whatever you want, Y/n/n. I just want you to be comfortable.*
If that man could just stop trying to be a gentleman.
In the end, I just pulled on some shorts that weren't too tight with my growing bump and one of Bucky's hoodies.
*I'm ready.* I told him, just as he'd requested, only to hear a knock on the door less than five seconds later.
I opened it to see my favorite person holding a minuscule bouquet of daisies. I cocked my head and smiled, taking them from him gently and inspecting them.
"Need a vase?" He asked, pulling a double shot glass out from behind his back and chuckling. My smile only grew wider.
"Thank you." I said, pressing a kiss to his lips before filling the glass and setting them down on my bedside table. "They're gorgeous."
"I hoped you'd like them." He said, wrapping me up in his arms and pulling me closer. "Ready to go?"
Something sounded off about his voice, I had a nagging urge that something was going to go wrong, but I pushed it to the back of my mind and nodded instead.
"Let's go then, Doll."
We spent about an hour riding on his motorbike as the sun started to set around us, I wasn't complaining though. An hour with nothing but the wind around me and my arms around Bucky's waist? Sounds like fucking paradise.
When we did eventually stop, it was at a field on the top of a hill, it looked down into a valley with a lake and the lush green grass was littered with...daisies.
I turned to Bucky who had already been looking at me as he held my hand.
"Did you-"
"I thought you'd like them. I wanted to get you flowers that nobody else had."
Oh my fucking God.
"I do. I do love them, Buck. But I'd love anything you gave me." I kissed him again. He was so perfect, he was my perfect.
"Come here, Doll." He said, using my hand to lead me over to a little blanket on the ground in the corner of the field. There was champagne, strawberries, those tiny sandwiches like at kids' parties, and even, somehow, salted caramel milkshakes from Terry's.
"How?"
"He and Steve helped me set it up. They had to bring a minivan with a generator so that they could use a freezer and blender." He told me.
"When?"
"They left just before we got here." He chuckled, sitting down and indicating that I should join him.
"Why?"
Bucky's face grew more serious, "Because I love you, Y/n/n. I would do anything just to see you smile."
That made me smile.
"I love you." I whispered, looking out into the valley as the golden light touched the petals of every daisy and the tip of every blade of grass around us.
Bucky wrapped an arm around me warmly. *I know.*
"No, I mean I really love you. I don't know what I would do without you, I don't know if I could live without you, I-"
"Shut up and drink your milkshake, Y/n/n. I love you even more than all of that." He grinned.
We spoke pretty solidly for the next hour, discussing anything and everything under the sun (or the moon I guess). I had assumed that we would go home once the food and drinks were all gone but he didn't make a move to leave so we stayed put.
Suddenly, a stripe of bright, white light shot up into the air and I flinched into Bucky's side, covering my ears to hide from the explosive bang.
Fireworks. But the bang didn't come. All that happened was that I felt his hand move up and down my back in a comforting manner.
I pulled away slightly from his body to see the lights still shining in the sky.
Blues.
Greens.
Purple.
Oranges.
Reds.It was beautiful. They were silent fireworks. I couldn't look away. I was mesmerized.
A Catherine Wheel fizzed in the sky, rockets shooting around it. There wasn't a single sound.
*Tony made them. He had to create a whole new material to absorb the sound that well.* Bucky's voice filled my chest. I don't think I had ever felt so safe, so warm in my life.
*We've been working on it all week, sorry for running away, Y/n/n.*
I shook my head, he didn't need to be sorry, this was the best thing anyone had ever done for me. I couldn't tear my eyes away.
*Doll?*
I was fixated intently on the fireworks. I never wanted to stop looking at the fireworks.
"Look at me."
My eyes darted to the location of the sound, but it wasn't where I had expected him to be. He was in front of me. Facing me. On one knee. For me.
"Y/n/n..."
I couldn't help but gasp at the sight, he was backlit by the explosions, holding an open box and he was looking right at me.
"There are so many things I want to say to you, I should have written a list but I didn't and I know you get impatient, so I'm just going to say one thing."
I nodded at him, urging him to go on, I needed him to tell me what was happening right now, as if it hadn't been made pretty clear already.
"I love you. I never want to be without you. Will you please make me happier than anyone or anything ever could, and agree to become my wife?"
I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak, I couldn't do anything but nod.
"Yes?"
I kept nodding, my brain completely shutting down.
He held out the box for me to take the ring but instead, I completely tackled him with a hug, this man meant more to me than any ring ever could.
A light laugh left his mouth before I could cover it with mine as I kissed him to within an inch of his life. The feeling of his mouth on mine was euphoric, and we only broke the kiss when I felt him discreetly slip the ring onto my finger.
"If you wanted to mark me as your own, there are other ways to do it..." I laughed as his lips made their way to my neck.
"Is that right, Doll?" He teased before starting to suck on my neck.
