Y/n's POV:
Bucky was meant to be back any moment. Bucky would be back soon. He was going to be here any minute.
Until then, I was waiting in the library, staring at the first page of a new book and trying to read it but not actually absorbing any of the information.
When was he going to get back?
I sighed and stood up, walking over to the counter. Tony had installed a tea whole beverage bar in the library (if it was up to him then I think there would be one in every room). This one had a full coffee maker, every kind of tea imaginable, and, of course, its fair share of alcoholic drinks.
I grabbed a bag of elderflower and berry tea and flicked the switch for the kettle on.
A moment later, a loud screeching sound started to build in my ears. It started off low but slowly and surely, both the pitch and volume began to increase at an alarming rate until suddenly the alarm tore through my head, it was a high-pitched whistle that felt like it would never end.
Thousands of thoughts started to flurry into my head and I fell to my knees, the noise in my brain completely dominating all my other senses.
*Ouch! Oh my God. Is Y/n alright? Why is she on the floor? Y/n/n?...*
Oh Shit.
I felt two hands place themselves on my shoulders, one metal, one human.
*What's going on? What's happening? Do I need to call an ambulance?...*
"Bucky what's going on is that you need to stop thinking. You need to clear your head for a second." I said in as calm of a voice as I could manage, given the number of words flowing into my brain.
"What's going on?" He asked before his thoughts promptly followed with *I'm so confused. Aww, she looks pretty today...*
I smiled and looked down at the cute flowered dress I had thrown on, given the summer sun. It was cute and comfortable, what more was there to say? "Thanks,"
"Wait," He looked very confused *What the fuck?* "You heard that?" *This is so weird. What on earth is going on? Maybe I really do need to call an ambulance, am I going insane? Am I even here or is this a dream?...*
Bucky pinched his arm before I had a chance to respond to him. "Just try and clear your head. Picture a blank screen." I commanded. I really needed him to shut up before I could explain this to him."
*Easier said than done.* I heard as I released a heavy sigh. Bucky looked right into my eyes. *She looks like an actual fucking painting right now.*
He glanced down to the restrained cleaved that the dress showed off. *Scratch that, she looks like a statue. Great. Now I've got a semi. Tony. Tony. Tony. Tony...*
"Buck, please..." I begged. trying not to laugh a little at his...predicament.
"Okay." He said slowly, closing his eyes to block everything that might provoke a thought out of view. "Please tell me what the fuck is going on because I walked into the room, saw you, and then my head started to hurt and there was some kind of high-pitched noise and you fell to the floor. Are you alright?"
A light blush painted itself onto my cheeks. "Do you remember reading my file?" I asked him slowly.
"Yeah..." He answered cautiously. "Holy shit! You're telepathic!" *How the fuck did I forget that? that's not an easy thing to forget...*
"Okay," I interrupted his chaotic train of thought, "And do you remember anything I told you about the telepathy?"
As he cast his mind back, I heard my own words echo through my head. It was a weird experience, although nothing about the last half an hour had been anything close to normal.
*I got it from my Mom, who got it from her Dad but by the time they died, both of my parents had it because they were 'in love' or something. My Nana never got the ability though, her marriage was arranged by their parents and I guess my Grandpa never loved her like that, even though they got along alright.*
"Okay, so..." He trailed off but his thoughts didn't stop. *What does that mean? What is going on? does she also...*
"Okay you have to stop thinking so...loudly" I interrupted, struggling to find the right words.
*Well how else am I supposed to think? Quietly?*
"Look, I know you're not saying it but do your thoughts have to be so...aggressive?" I laughed.
*Just wait until she hears me picturing her moan underneath me, she won't be laughing then...*
My light pink cheeks turned a bright shade of red. "And that is why I need to teach you to hold your thoughts..." I mumbled
"Is this a one-way thing or can you reply in my mind as well?" He asked.
*I can reply James, I've just had more practice than you.* I answered silently. I got that this was a lot of information for him all at once.
"Why are you calling me James again?" *Did I mess something up again?*
"It's your name, isn't it? Maybe I just want to call you something that the others don't." I smiled at him as he tried to hold back one of his own.
*That's cute.* He thought but only replied with "I'll allow it."
*You're cute.* I responded, watching his smile break loose.
"Fuck you" He grinned.
"I hate you too."
