A few days had passed and there was still no sign of Seungcheol anywhere. Y/n wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not but she wasn't going to give up hope just yet.
The supply team were currently out sweeping through new areas that were less populated by zombies. The sun beat down on them harshly with summer now in full force.
"it's so damn hot" Mingyu complained as he wiped sweat from his forehead, the back of his hand becoming wet. He grimaced and wiped it on his shirt which was beginning to stick to his body.
Soonyoung had a map in his hands that he was using to mark off areas that they searched throughout the day. He would constantly have to squint down at it to see what he was doing and to see where they were going, the sun shining too brightly in his and everyone else's eyes. Y/n was walking with her jacket above her head, attempting to shield herself from the heat and was walking ahead of everyone else. She kept her head down and stared at the ground in front of her as she walked, the jacket blocking her view of anything in front of her. As it was bound to happen, she ran into something in front of her. That "something" started growling at her soon after she bumped into it. She slowly lifted the jacket from her eyes and looked up to see a zombie staring right at her.
"oh no..." she muttered before being tackled to the ground. She held it back by it's shoulders as it gnarled at her and tried to bite at anything it could.
By now the others had noticed what was going and and ran towards her.
"Y/n!" Vernon shouted, but before he could do anything, she kicked the zombie in the stomach and it fell off of her. It tried to run back at her but she quickly grabbed a blade from her side and shoved it deep inside its head, right through the temple. It growled for a few more seconds before collapsing to the ground, the blade still sticking out the side of its rotten head.
The five boys behind her stood in shock as they watched her pull the blade from its head, wiping its blood on the grass and returning it back to its previous position on her side. She turned to them,
"what? why are you all looking at me like that?" she asked as they stared at her with blank expressions. Soonyoung raised his eyebrows at her,
"that was surprising, i don't think i've seen you move that fast before" he spoke, earning a glare from the younger girl.
"well i only learn from the best" she said sarcastically as she lazily waved her blade towards him.
"and anyway i can defend myself without needing the help of men" she finished. She then walked away towards a nearby building,
"i need to get out of this heat it's burning me alive" she complained. She was met with silence and turned around,
"are you coming or not?" she asked the males who still hadn't moved.
"is it just me or has she been kind of scary lately?" Mingyu whispered to Jihoon, not wanting her to hear and lash out at them.
"yeah ever since she came back that day when her and Seokmin were covered in blood she's been different" Jihoon agreed, choosing to ignore the "scary" comment Mingyu made about her.
After the talk Y/n had with Wonwoo that day, she hasn't wanted to be a burden on anyone, especially Soonyoung. She thought that if she could learn how to protect herself and survive on her own then she would be one less person Soonyoung has to worry about. She felt weak being constantly surrounded by 10 males, who always went out of their way to make sure she was safe. Of course she appreciated how much they all cared for her but she couldn't help but think that they thought she couldn't protect herself, and she wanted to change that.
The group walked into a small and cozy building which appeared to be an old book store. Books littered the floor and dust covered the ones that remained messily on the shelves. The store was barely lit as the only light in it was coming from outside. There was a corner of the room set up with a few large bean bags, a small table and a small rug. Mingyu and Seokmin instantly collapsed down onto the bean bags, the bags forming to the shape of their bodies. Y/n laughed at them and rolled her eyes,
"you're both children" she scoffed.
"Says the school girl" Mingyu retorted, grabbing her arm and pulling her down onto the bean bag with him, it being big enough to fit two people. She got flustered and quickly adjusted herself so she wasn't sitting on top of him.
The three of them were enjoying being in their own little world when they were suddenly pulled out of it.
"please don't shoot!" they heard an unfamiliar voice plead from another room within the store.
