Y/n's breath hitched and she swallowed thickly as the blade was pushed further into her neck. She stared at the person holding her against the wall. It was a middle aged man who was breathing heavily, his clothes were old and tattered and his face was dirty and had some blood smeared on it. His eyes looked tired and desperate. She looked at the girl in the corner of the room and back at the man who was seconds away from slitting her throat. He didn't look like he wanted to kill her, if anything, he looked scared.

"Is that your daughter?" she asked wearily, her voice breaking, she was scared too. He narrowed his eyes at her and pushed her further into the wall with his forearm that was placed on her stomach, making it hard for her to breathe.
"I don't want to hurt her...or you" she breathed out shakily.
"I heard screaming and I wanted to help..." she added, noticing the skepticism in his eyes. He loosened the grip he had on the blade, relieving some of the pressure it had on her throat.

The man was suddenly pulled away from her and thrown onto the floor with a thud. Seungcheol stood over his body with his gun pointed at him to keep him on the floor. Y/n rubbed her neck, feeling a slight indentation from the blade.

Soonyoung and Vernon rushed into the room behind Seungcheol. The other boys waiting outside of the house.
"are you okay?" Soonyoung asked, his brows furrowed in worry as he stared at her neck, running his thumb over it gently. Y/n nodded and turned her attention to the man on the floor. His eyes were wide and he was shaking, begging Seungcheol not to shoot him.
"You tried to kill my sister but now you expect me to keep you alive?" he scoffed, his finger now placed on the trigger.

"Daddy!" the little girl cried as she ran over to her father on the floor, tears flowing from her eyes.
"Seungcheol" Y/n said, putting her hand on Seungcheol's forearm, lowering his arm that was holding the gun.
"it's okay...he was just protecting her" she said. Seungcheol hesitated before averting his eyes to the young girl, he felt his heart sink and put away his gun, out of sight for the ten year old. He wondered how a child could have survived this long in a post apocalyptic world and what type of things the poor girl would have been exposed to.

Seungcheol pushed those thoughts to the side and turned away towards the door.
"Come on we need to go, we've already wasted too much time" he said, ignoring the situation behind him.

The man panicked and scrambled onto his knees, reaching out and taking a fistful of Vernon's shirt into his hands.
"No! Please! you can't leave us here! we won't survive much longer on our own...take us with you please!" the man begged, his eyes darting between the three of them frantically.

Vernon froze, his feelings conflicted. He looked at the girl, who stared back at him with scared and confused eyes.

Y/n walked over to Seungcheol,
"we can't just leave them, she's only a kid Cheol..." she mumbled, looking back at Vernon who looked extremely uncomfortable under the current circumstances. Seungcheol rubbed his temples and emitted a long, deep sigh.

"oh fuck no" Jihoon swore as he noticed Soonyoung, Vernon and the Choi siblings walking out of the house with an older man and a child who was clinging onto his side. Seungcheol looked defeated and Y/n had a guilty and apologetic look on her face as they approached the rest of the group.
"no absolutely not" Jihoon said, repeatedly shaking his head no.
"what's going on?" Minghao asked, leaving his previous position of leaning against a tree. Junhui followed him, curious to see who these people were.

"we're already crunched on time, we can't afford to bring two more people with us, let alone a kid" Jihoon argued, gesturing to the little girl who was hiding sheepishly behind her father.
"Come on man, they have no where to go and if we can help them we should, it'd be wrong to leave them here" Soonyoung spoke up, trying to guilt trip the smaller male.

Jihoon grumbled under his breath, pushing his hair back in frustration. He knew he wasn't going to win this fight, especially not against someone as stubborn as Soonyoung.
"whatever, we need to keep moving or we won't make the boat, just tell them to stay out of the way and to try not to get anyone or themselves killed" Jihoon said, reluctantly giving in.
