Name: Abigail
Meaning: father rejoices
Life story:
Your father was a trader, and you had always been interested in his occupation. Being able to travel all over the world and interacting with people of various cultures; the idea fascinated you. You had begged your father to let you go on one of his expeditions, and finally he relented, agreeing to take you with him when he left England to go do trade in Japan, but only this once.
Weather ended up getting the best of you. The ship sunk, and many people died, your father and several others managing to get away on one of the row boats, but he couldn't find you. He had no choice but to abandon you, but you don't hold this against him.
You grabbed a plank of floating wood and kicked your way to shore. It was a long journey, and you were freezing, your clothing was heavy with water, threatening to pull you down into the ocean, but you clung desperately onto the wood so as not to drown. You were afraid that you would die from the cold, but you eventually made your way to sure. You washed up on a beach, and had no choice but to strip down to your underclothes, else to die from the cold.
It wasn't long before you heard a female talking, and you waited for the voice to get closer. The idea of talking to someone in your underclothes wasn't one that came as very appealing to you, but you saw little other choice, and were thankful that it was a woman who was approaching. However, you were soon mortified to see two men along with the two women, as well as a small boy with a fox tail. The boy screamed and turned around, covering his eyes, while the man with white hair and dog ears seemed to have no reaction whatsoever. The man that appeared human, however, seemed very pleased with the sight, and one woman yelled at the two of them in a strange language, prompting them to turn around.
The two women walked up to you, speaking in concerned tones in their foreign tongue.
"I don't understand," you said as slowly as possible, as if this would help them to comprehend what you were saying.
One woman stared at you in confusion, but the other, oddly dressed woman (even in Japanese standards) gave you a knowing look.
"What happened to you?" she asked.
The white-haired man asked something, but the woman shouted, prompting him to land face first into the ground.
"My ship was destroyed," you said slowly enough for her to understand. "I had to swim to shore. I had to take off my clothes or else I would have frozen to death."
The woman didn't understand all of the words you said, but seemed to understand the gist of it.
"Take this blanket," she said, taking one out of her bag and handing it to you. You gladly took it. "There is a village not too far from here. I will ask my friend Sango to buy you some clothes."
"Thank you," you said gratefully.
The woman sent her friend off, as well as the men, who she didn't want around, seeing as you were almost completely naked. They eventually came back, and the white-haired man and the young boy turned around, waiting for you to get dressed, while the brown-haired man took some convincing before he relented and turned around.
You dressed yourself in the foreign garb, feeling strange in the kimono, and had to ask for assistance from the woman.
"How do you know English?" you asked her, slipping on the geta she handed you.
"I learned it in school," she explained.
"You go to school?" you said in amazement. "Women are not allowed to go to school where I am from."
"Yes, well, things are different where I am from," she told you.
"Do you mind if I stay with you?" you asked. "Just until I find my father; we were separated after the accident."
"Of course," said the woman. She talked to her friends, and they all seemed to agree (though the white-haired man needed some convincing).
After traveling with them for a time, you started to pick up some Japanese. Though you were by no means fluent, you were able to communicate fairly well with the group, enough so that you could understand when Miroku asked you to bear his child. During your time spent with the group, you learned about the Jewel of Four Souls and the evil demon Naraku who seeks it.
You actually ended up bumping into Naraku later on, and once again, you were separated from your traveling group, much to your dismay. You wandered the woods looking for them, but instead happened upon a little girl. The girl spoke to you at a fast pace, albeit suspiciously, so you had to slowly explain to her that you weren't fluent with the language and that she needed to speak slower. You learned that her name was Rin, and explained to her the predicament that you found yourself in. Rin suggested that you come with her, telling you that she was traveling with someone she referred to as Sesshōmaru-sama.
You have been staying with Sesshōmaru since then, searching for your father all the while. If you happen to run into Kagome and her friends once again, you can't say for sure what you will do. Whether you will join with them once again, or stay where you are, having begun to grow comfortable with your new company.
Abilities: swordsmanship; hand-to-hand combat
What they think of you:
Inuyasha: I could barely understand a word she said. Good riddance, I say.
(Me: Just Inuyasha being stubborn. He's worried about you.)
Inuyasha: No, I'm not.
(Me: *whispers* Yes, he is.)
Kagome: It's awful what happened to her, and now... I can't believe we lost her.
Sango: I hope she's alright. We'll find her, though. I'm sure of it.
Miroku: A beautiful young woman. She never did answer whether or not she would bear my child, though. Perhaps I spoke too quickly so that she couldn't understand me.
(Me: No, she could understand you alright. Loud and clear.)Shippō: I miss her.
Kikyō: I am unfamiliar with the person you are referring to.
Kaede: I met her once or twice. It is a shame what happened.
Myōga: I believe I met her once.
Kōga: I think she was with Kagome one time, but I didn't really pay attention.
(Me: Of course you didn't.)
Naraku: She poses no threat.
Byakuya: I don't know her.
Kagura: I've seen her once or twice.
Kanna: Her soul is lost, as is she.
Hakudōshi: Just some human. I could care less.
Akago (baby incarnation of Naraku): Her heart desires to see her father once more.
Mōryōmaru: One of Sesshōmaru's humans, right?
Sesshōmaru: She can remain as long as she wishes. It makes no difference to me.
Jaken: Another human! What's next, a half-breed?
