Louis’ P.O.V

Alexis takes out a medium sized shotgun, which I’m guessing is an AK-47 or something, I’m not sure because I don’t know a lot about guns. I felt nervous around the gun, scared that she might shoot me by mistake or something. But if Alexis has been a hunter for most of her life, I am pretty sure she won’t accidentally shoot me. Now I realize that when I woke up Alexis over a month ago and she pointed a gun at me and said it was fake that it wasn’t a fake gun, that it was a real gun. Alexis takes out a pack of bullets and places them on the table.

“Is that the gun I’m using?” I ask her with a slightly shaky voice.

“Yeah,” is all she says without even looking up at me.

She finally looks up, handing me the pack of bullets. I shove it into my jacket pocket and slowly take the gun out of Alexis’ small hands. The gun feels safe and unfamiliar in my hands. It’s cold metal not helping with my already freezing hands. It’s heavy as well. Do not underestimate Alexis, because she is one strong girl. The feeling of the gun is somehow familiar, but only because I used one on Alexis the night I was possessed.

I still can’t believe that happened to me, I never imagined myself being possessed. Demons aren’t supposed to be real! Those type of supernatural things aren’t supposed to be real, yet my girlfriend hunts them. I still love her of course, I just can’t believe that these things are real. I can’t believe what the demon made me do to Alexis and my friends back in my house. I remember everything, and it was horrible. I nearly killed all of my best friends, and I nearly killed my girlfriend. I’ve been messed up ever since remembering. I still cry about it at times, though deny it if anyone asks. I just need to get over it.

Alexis takes out another gun and leads me over to the targets she set up. They are large wooden rectangles with thick red and white lines painted on it in a circle with a big red dot in the middle. She leads me to one and instructs me to stay there before she walks over to the next target. She lifts up her gun, which is similar to mine and takes out a pack of bullets. I take mine out and look up at her like, waiting for instructions. She opened up the packet of bullets and placed a few in her hand. I did the same.

“Now, to load a gun you have to press the button on the side of the hand grip to the magazine.” She said while doing so, and I followed. Out came the magazine and I held it lightly in my hands. “Good, now insert the bullets one at a time with the rounded side forward until the magazine is full.” I took the bullets and loaded the magazine until it was full and couldn’t hold any more bullets. “Now re-insert the magazine by pushing it upward into the hand grip until you hear a clicking noise indicating that the magazine has locked in place.” She continued, and I copied her every move. “Now disengage the safety by pushing down on the safety lever at the top, rear of gun. Next, pull back the slide on top of the barrel to load the bullet into the firing chamber.” She said, and I followed instructions. I heard the click indicating that the bullet was loaded into the chamber. Now I just needed to learn how to shoot an actual gun. Alexis pointed her gun at her target and I did the same, holding it with my right hand. “So now you need to learn how to shoot. So, aim down the sight at the target. Place your pointing finger onto trigger when you're sure you have a target and are ready to shoot.” I watched as she put her finger on the trigger, and I did the same, starting to feel nervous at what was to come. “The press the trigger for each time you shoot.” She finished, before pulling the trigger once and a loud bang went off, making me jump a little and nearly cover my ears. I saw that Alexis had hit the target straight in the middle. She stumbled back a little, probably from the recoil, and gripped her cane tightly to keep her balance. When she regained it, she looked at me and nodded, indicating me to take my turn and shoot.
