Chapter 54: Shikamaru lack of Motivation

Kei smiled to herself as she looked down at Shikamaru lying down on the ground on his back after being roughly pushed by Naruto.

"Well, he down there now," Kaito laughed.

The crowd started booing loudly as they threw trash at Shikamaru lying on the ground.

"What is it you planning on giving up," Temari said with a smile.

"Get it together, Shikamaru! Are you going to get going sometime this year?" Naruto shouted.

"If he is going to take all day to start. Then I'm going to the bathroom," Akira muttered in annoyance, seeing Shikamaru still lying on the ground as she walked toward the stairs to use the bathroom before it was time for her match.

"Well, if you won't move, I will," Temari said, running towards Shikamaru.

"Hey, I didn't start the match yet," Genma called out.

'Well, Temari hasn't changed since I last saw her. She is still feisty and spunky as ever, like she was as a kid.' Lei thought, watching Temari run towards Shikamaru.

"Let's see how this plays out," Kaito said as the match between Shikamaru and Temari began just as Akira returned from the bathroom.

The match then came to a conclusion, with Shikamaru forfeiting the match. He pretty much won the match after tricking her into stepping into the shadow and taking hold of her body. Then he suddenly gives up the match.

'Shikamaru, seriously, you forfeit. You had the match won, and you went and gave on up the moment you caught her in your shadow.' Kei thought as she looked at his raised hand, saying he had given up.

"He what's!" Kaito shouted as he heard Shikamaru's words.

"I use up all my chakra on the shadow possession justu, bummer, and I already plan out my next ten moves," Shikamaru said."And if I did win, it just meant even more work."

"Well, can't blame him. He makes a good point. His chakra is pretty low at the moment," Akira commented.

"True, he is still lazy, but at least he had a valuable reason and not just because it meant more work fighting another match since the Finals seem to be set up like a tournament," Kei said as she recalled the formation of the matches on the paper.

"The winner of the match is Temari," Genma announced.

"That girl has excellent skills and could have won if Shikamaru didn't outsmart her," Kaito stated.

"Yeah, she was quite a good fighter in the Academy, even though we didn't talk much with her being older than me," Kei said with a nod.

Shikamaru then released Temari from the shadow and rubbed his shoulder in exhaustion.

"Wow, Shikamaru, that was lame!" Naruto yelled, jumping over the railing and running towards Shikamaru.

"Naruto, shut up so they can start the next match!" Kei shouted, making Naruto freeze, seeing her narrow golden eyes and feeling the intense aura coming from her.

'Goodness, Kei is pretty and all, but she scares me more than Sakura at times.' Naruto thought, swallowing as he and Shikamaru started heading up the stairs.

"As we're still missing a competitor for what was supposed to be the third match, it is still postponed meaning we will continue to move on!" Genma announced. "So Akira and Takuya Jinja, come on down!"

"So im up, and it seems my opponent is the brother of Kaito's opponent. I knew they seemed to look alike," She said with a smile."I hope you watch closely and see how much I got stronger over the month, Kaito and Kei," She said, looking at her teammates before heading down the stairs.

"I'm looking forward to it, Akira," Kaito said, giving her a thumbs up for good luck.

"Do your best, Aki," Kei said with a nod as Akira descended it the stairs.

Akira was then seen walking onto the field with a look of determination on her face. Her opponent came from the other side. He had slightly darker green hair that stopped at his neck and a bang to the right-covered eye, which was crystal blue base on the one look you could see. He was wearing a light green shirt underneath a dark blue long-sleeve shirt with an opening near his chest showing the green one. He also had on gray pants stopping before his blue ankle ninja sandals. A White forehead proctor was on his forehead.

"Well, girly, don't expect me to go easy on you, unlike my younger brother. I have the skill and am not an easy opponent," Takuya smiled.

"I wouldn't want you to go easy on me after all; it would be embarrassing if a girl beats you that quickly, and you wouldn't want that, so better give it all you got," Akira said.

"She definitely seems more confident than usual at times," Kei commented.

"Yeah, my mom's friend has been working really hard with her in building confidence," Kaito stated.

"I believe that I might have run into her sensei one night during a walk," Kei said.

"You are going to wish that I did go easy on you after this girly," Takuya commented, getting into a fighting stance.

"We see about that," Akira replied.

The two opponents stared into each other eyes, both full of determination and eagerness to win the match.

"Alright, let the match begin!" Genma announced the signal for the match to begin between the two.

Takuya was then immediately seen dashing toward Akira with a kunai in his hand and heading straight for her at full speed.
