Chapter Eight
Love Is In The Air Or Not

(Nobody's Pov!)

Alice brushed through her short pink locks with her fingers as she stared at herself in the mirror. She poked her cheek and frowned as she did it. She felt less than for some reason, but why?

She narrowed her eyes as she stared at her reflection. She knew why. A girl who rivaled her made her feel this way. Emily Penn the shadow hero. She clenched her fists as she thought of Emily. Emily was a boring girl with brown hair and brown hairs! How could Emily possibly rival her?

'How could her powers even compete with mine?' Alice thought, summoning a small crystal heart in her palm. She stared down at it as the light reflected off of it, shining beautifully. She crushed it easily and threw the pieces into the trash.

She wanted Alcameano to notice her and see her potential as a hero. She wanted to be noticed, but he only seemed interested in Emily and his group of friends. Alice sighed and walked out of her bathroom now freshly changed in her pajamas. She wore light blue sweatpants and a white tank top. "Mary? What are you doing here?" Alice asked, raising an eyebrow as she spotted her cousin laying on her blue couch.

"That Maddie girl is still annoying me. She refuses to change her uniform. Now it's to late and everyone's getting their uniforms delivered!" Mary groaned in annoyance. She covered her face with one of the fuzzy white throw pillows and screamed in frustration.

"I'm sorry, Mary." Alice began. "Look on the bright side, I'm sure Miss Evergreen has made yours unique even if you both have flower themed uniforms." Alice said, smiling as she sat next to Mary.

Alice wanted a sleek blue jumpsuit which she could create crystal armor over. She also drew out plans for boots that looked like they were made of crystals. She wanted it to be perfect and she wouldn't have minded if anyone else wanted a crystal based uniform. Being a hero isn't about fashion. It's about actually saving people and becoming someone who's looked up too.

"Mary, You shouldn't be so mean to Madelyn. I'm sure you guys could be friends if you just talked. You might have things in common seeing as you both like flowers." Alice said, causing Mary to grunt.

"You're stupid. You know Madelyn is friends with Emily, the girl you don't like. You should hate them all." Mary said, standing up from the couch, still holding the fuzzy white throw pillow.

"I don't even know them. I'm not going to be hating them, especially because we're all going to be heroes together." Alice said, thinking of Alcameano. It would be amazing if they could be heroes together.. A Team.. like how they were in the teamwork exam.

"Ugh, You really don't know anything about anything. If you want something you have to fight hard and take it. If you want that boy you'll have to make Emily your rival." Mary said, throwing the pillow at Alice. Mary turned around and walked out of Alice's dorm, leaving Alice all alone to think about what Mary said.

"I have to.. make her my rival? If I beat her in every aspect that means there a chance I can prove myself to Alcameano." Alice spoke, aloud.

"Hey, Al! You have to try this!" Emily said, rushing towards him with a cake on a plate. Al turned around and stared at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Why do you always show up with some random thing for me to try?" Al asked, staring down at the cake.

"Well, I love to bake so I was hoping you'd try this really delicious cake!" Emily said, forcing the plate into his hands. "Thanks?" Al said, reasonably concerned that Emily was forcing this cake to him.
