Chapter Forty Eight
My Passion Outweighs Your Hatred(Nobody's Pov!)
Small bubbles of purple flames flickered off Philip's shoulders, the tips of of the flames turning blue. Instead of sharp flickering points they seemed to bubble off his shoulders in a circularly way. They seemed soft and gentle instead of threatening and dangerous, but to his father it was Philip's final act of defiance. Philip had renounced every gift his father had given. Philip's father clenched his fists as he tilted his head. His sons actions were infuriating. He hated the look of determination and courage on Philip's face.
"Where's your anger? I killed your little girlfriend. Why aren't you flaming with fury?" The Phoenix asked, raising a wall of flames to block off the other heroes. Emily gasped and jumped backwards. Just being near the flames burned her skin. Emily turned around and rushed over to where Mackenzie's body was laying. Ruby stared down with a sorrowful expression, unable to move now. She was beginning to feel completely powerless as the flames consumed the buildings beside her. The entire street was slowly crumbling due to the intensity of the flames covering the buildings.
"We have to get out of here or else we're going to die." Emily said, kneeling down beside Ruby. Ruby pressed a gentle hand to Mackenzie's cheek, tilting her head.
"Her eyes still have light. It's like she's still trying to survive. I've tried putting the blood back into her body and clotting the wound, but... I don't think it's working." Ruby muttered, as Emily clenched her jaw. She held back her tears as she stared at her paling cousin. "We have to get her out of here. If there's a chance we can get her to Maddie.. than maybe..." Emily said, glancing back at the wall of flames on either side of them.
"You're right. We need to hurry." Ruby spoke, picking Mackenzie up in her arms. The two began rushing back towards the school, hoping to run into Maddie.

The warm house was lit warmly as the snow fell outside. The Christmas tree flickered as the star reflected the lights. Mackenzie glanced over at the small girl peeking around the corner. She wasn't quite sure why the girl looked at her with such disgust and fear.
"Why are you looking at me that way?" Mackenzie asked, tilting her head. She motioned for the child to come closer, but the girl seemed reluctant.
"Why did you give up on your new family?" The girl asked, rubbing her tear stained face. Mackenzie raised an eyebrow confused as to what the child was referring too.
"What do you mean?" Mackenzie asked, causing the child to furrow her eyebrows.
"You gave up your life by fighting this fight! You'll never have a life with Philip or Maddie or anyone else! Why would you seek revenge?!" The child yelled, nearly crying. The young girl was so full of emotion that she was nearly exploding. The tension in the air was very thick so thick that Mackenzie felt she couldn't take a breath.
"My mother... my father... they're gone and it's all his fault! They'll never be back because of him!" Mackenzie yelled, back at the little girl.
"You act as if they wanted you to throw your life away! I loved them, but don't you love the new family you've been given? More death has been caused by this petty seek of revenge." The young girl said.
"What about Philip? And Maddie? Or Sei? What of Emily? Even Ruby cares for you. Why not accept the gifts you've been given? You've lost it all because of your own actions." The young girl scolded.
