Chapter Nine
Mid Year Exam

(Nobody's Pov!)

"Let the middle of the year exam commence!" The headmaster announced as everyone entered the time loop arena.

Everyone began to do their own thing as the exam started. The teachers watched from above as their students began battling against each other.

"I hope they've learned from their past mistakes." Lucinda said, watching the battles.

"They've all finally got their hero uniforms too. Let's hope they made wise decisions when designing their outfits." Sei spoke, staring down at the arena.

"I can't wait to see what you've taught these young heroes." Headmaster Masuyo Said, smiling proudly.

As the battle began the heroes started to come up with strategies to win. They thought back on the point system again. Each kill is one point.

Third place gives two points.
Second place gives four points.
First place gives six points.

All of the kills are added up and put into credits as well as your placement if you get into the top three. Everyone needed these credits and they had to progress quickly. They were all ready to show what they've learned!

"Psst, Emily get over here." Dakota demanded. Emily gasped and quickly rushed over, kneeling down behind the bush with Dakota.

"Dakota?" Emily asked, as Dakota smiled. "Let's team up and then you and I can fight at the end so we both get a bunch of points." Dakota said, smiling.

Emily thought for a moment before nodding. "Sure, Dakota." Emily said.

"I knew I could count on you." Dakota said, smiling as he brushed a strand of hair out of Emily's face. Emily blushed and look away from him. "Let's.. Let's do this!" Emily said.

Emily and Dakota ran off together through the woods using the trees as cover as they ran. Emily fueled her energy in the shadows for awhile before jumping up into a tree. "What are you doing?" Dakota asked, looking up at Emily.

"I'm going to send out some shadow enemies for them to fight. You can pick them off on the tree line with your thorns while they're distracted."
Emily said, focusing her energy.

"Okay that works." Dakota said, climbing up into a tree. He stared at the battlefield, looking around for people.

That's when multiple shadow horses came bolting out from the trees. Liliana gasped and quickly dodged one of the horses. "You annoying shadows!" Liliana yelled in annoyance.

"You need some help?" A voice asked, as bolts of lightning came raining down, destroying the shadow horses. Liliana gasped as she saw Caleb walking over.

"Caleb!" She said, with a light blush. The two of them had gotten rather close in the time they had spent together. "We aren't fighting to the death again are we?" Liliana asked, raising an eyebrow. Caleb chuckled and shook his head.

"Don't worry. I don't plan on hurting you this time. We could make it to the end together and see how far we get working together." Caleb said, with a confident look on his face.

"Oh! That sounds perfect!" Liliana said, staring at him lovingly. That's when suddenly a thorn flew hitting her right in the face, dropping her to the ground. Caleb gasped and stared down at her corpse in surprise. He quickly ducked for cover behind a rock as a thorn just missed him.
