Chapter Forty
Envy Is My Drug(Nobody's Pov!)
Esmeralda sat in her room staring at herself in the mirror. She cringed at her disgusting looking face before bandaging it back up. She couldn't stand to look at herself anymore. Somehow she started thinking of her sister, Cordelia. Cordelia was always the lucky one. She had amazing blue hair straight from birth, but Esmeralda was stuck with normal black hair until she got older. Eventually her hair grew and the tips of her hair were engulfed in a glowing green. Unfortunately her sister was just as lucky and her hair had glowing blue tips! Esmeralda was always stuck competing with her sister. Even their own powers had to be a competition.

On a simple summer day the twins were finally born! It was. A joyous day and everything was perfect until something happened. The doctors were taking care of the children, but the doctors began collapsing.
It was discovered that they were both born with their powers. Esmeralda and Cordelia were very unique children and had to have eye covers until they were old enough to control their powers. Their parents thought it would be enough until they discovered that their daughters could control a mist that had the same effect as looking into their eyes.
They loved their daughters dearly, but one seemed to be more special than the other. Cordelia was amazing and she seemed to mature faster. Her powers were also sweet and innocent. She showed dreams and memories that were played in amazing detail that would never been seen again in such a way, but Esmeralda on the other hand. Her powers were the opposite of Cordelia's. Esmeralda was a nightmare and she enjoyed scaring people with her nightmares.
The two were inseparable as children, but Cordelia often got all of the attention. She was praised for being strong and she was always told that she would be a glorious hero one day, but Esmeralda was never given that same treatment. Her parents often ignored her and would punish her when Esmeralda tried to use her powers for attention.
Everyone loved Cordelia's eyes. That's one thing Esmeralda remembered the most. Cordelia was born with hypnotic rainbow eyes that could captive and enchant whole Esmeralda was born with what she described as swampy green eyes. They swirled around like muck in a swamp and her parents never looked at them. She wanted her parents to love her as she was, but they didn't. They loved Cordelia, so she tried to be her sister even though that didn't work. She tried to dye her hair, but it didn't change a thing. It's like the dye had no effect on her hair.
She used to be so close to Cordelia, but overtime she grew to resent her sister. Cordelia would always tease her and call her the little sister even though they were only a couple minutes apart. Cordelia was always trying to help and get in the way! Esmeralda didn't need her perfect assistance! Esmeralda needed to shine her own way! That's why she ran away from her family when she became a teenager. She needed to go out into the world and prove that she was better than Cordelia!
In her mind Cordelia was always the enemy! Always trying to one up her and take the attention away! Cordelia never let Esmeralda have any of the attention. She was just a perfect little princess. If she hated her so much why was she the only person on her mind when she was getting burned by The Phoenix. Why did she wish for Cordelia's safety in that moment?
