Chapter Forty Nine
A New World Blossoms

(Nobody's Pov!)

Philip stared his father down with a scowl on his face. Everything had led up to this moment and finally he would end it. He would end all of the suffering his father put people through. He would finish him off in Mackenzie's name.

Philip stared down at his missing arm for a moment before focusing and creating a rock arm as a replacement. He was ready. He looked back up and glared at his father.

"Why? Why do you look at me as if you are not my son?" The Phoenix asked, walking forwards, his sharp flames flickering off his body. Philip narrowed his eyes and clenched his fists, the beautiful blue and purple fire bubbling off his body. He seemed like a true beacon of hope. His fire shined so bright that it could be seen even over the flames of his fathers.

"We might share the same blood, but I am not your son. I'll never be anything like you. You might've got into my head long ago, but I know who I am. Nothing you ever do will change that." Philip spoke, suddenly launching himself forwards, the flames flickering on the ground as he moved across the street, leaving a giant trail of blue and purple fire.

In an instant Philip appeared in front of his father, his fist drawn back. He clenched his jaw and launched out a powerful punch, leaving a blast of fire. The Phoenix's eyes widened at the intense speed of his son. He raised his arms to block, but as the bubbling fire touched his flames he felt his fire weaken and nearly go out. He jumped backwards, slicing the street in between them with fire, throwing rubble and tiny pieces of concrete everywhere. Philip narrowed his eyes and zipped out of the way, leaving a trail of blue and purple fire. His father breathed heavily and looked down at his arms, noticing that his fire had weakened there.

This was something he never encountered before. Not a single enemy he had ever faced had been able to weaken his flames. Not even those silly water heroes who thought they could stop him. Water is useless if the flames burn to hot. Apparently his son had discovered a counter to his most powerful asset.

He took a deep breath and powered his fire back up, covering the weakened spots on his arms. He looked across the street spotting his son glaring at him.

"When did you get all high and mighty?" The Phoenix laughed. He wasn't angry, he felt interested. A real fight between father and son! It was fueling him. This would be the deciding factor. Who would win? Who would lose? Who gains control of the country?! Who gains control of the world!?

The Phoenix couldn't contain his excitement any longer. He blasted forwards, launching himself with a powerful wave of fire. Buildings crumbled and giant flames consumed the rubble. The Phoenix laughed wildly as he grabbed Philip's throat, lifting his son into the air. Philip narrowed his eyes as he struggled to breath. Philip clenched his fists and covered more of his skin with his flames, forcing his father back. The colored flames were beginning to stick to his father, slowly eating at his flames.

"What did you do to me?" His father asked, staring down at his body. "You know I haven't seen your face since I was a child." Philip spoke, staring at the half of his fathers face that was slowly being revealed.

"Your face was always in my nightmares. I knew each time I saw you.. it would only be more abuse. At the time I thought you were actually trying to take care of me and make me strong for me, but now I realize all you wanted was an heir to your power." Philip spoke, clenching his fist.

"You've always been strong, but you never lived up to my expectations. You were always defiant. You couldn't obey. That's what makes you weak." The Phoenix growled, his flames slowly fading down to nothing. His body was finally not protected. He stood there like a knight without armor. He wore a black fancy tucked suit with a black tie.
