Aemond's P.O.V.
"Ah! Did you see the picture? Aemond, Aemond, Aemond- Oh, no."
I hear Cordelia squeal from upstairs before hearing something tumble downstairs. Glancing away from the assignment on my laptop, I look over my shoulder and past the livingroom couch to see her sitting at the bottom of the steps. Cordelia is holding her knee with one hand like it's sore while staring at her cellphone in the other as if it's more important.
Pushing my laptop off my lap and standing up from the couch, I stare at the spot on her knee that she's cradling and realize she's what I heard crashing down the stairs. Lord, how did she survive this world before moving in with us? Not thinking twice, I stride over to the girl with her face in her phone and blurt out in alarm.
"Baby. Are you alright?"
"Yeah... Yeah, I'm alright."
She groans under her breath before standing up and limping towards me as she does something on her phone. Rolling my eye and seeing her not at all troubled by her suddenly bruised leg, I grab her waist and guide her into the kitchen to play nurse with her for a minute. Bringing her to the kitchen island, I hoist her up by the waist and set her down on the counter as she babbles while looking at her phone screen.
"Have you seen the photo Helaena sent us? Her Tinker Bell costume came in the mail today."
"No, I haven't seen the photo. I didn't even know she ordered the costume."
I murmur plainly, with my mind focused on checking her for bruises, since she will not attend to them herself. Standing in front of Cordelia, I lift her blue sundress up just enough to inspect her bare knee and cradle her calf in one hand. Forcing her to gently bend the knee back and forth, I brush my other hand over her knee and ask more intently than before.
"Baby, does that hurt?"
"No... Oh, my god. Oh, my god." Cordelia shortly answers me before getting a notification on her phone and freaking out for whatever was sent to her. Pressing my thumb all over her knee to check for a bruise, I listen boredly as she gasps at her cellphone. "That is so cute- Ouch. Okay. That hurts, Aemond."
"Hm." I murmur and let go of her leg after figuring out where the bruise is on her knee. Shuffling to the fridge and opening up the freezer, I grab a bag of frozen peas as Cordelia squeals in excitement. "Aemond, come here. You have to see this. Your sister looks like the real Tinker Bell. Look, look, look-"
"I'm coming. Calm down. I'm coming."
Sighing and holding back a laugh, I come back to stand in front of her sitting on the counter and delicately put the cold bag of peas on her knee. Leaning against the counter between her legs, I keep the bag pressing onto her knee as she moves her phone for me to see the picture Helaena sent. Smiling at the green dress and fairy wings my sister is wearing, I agree with Cordelia before going back to observing her knee.
"Yeah... She does, doen't she?"
"She's perfect as Tinker Bell."
Cordelia mutters while grinning at her phone and texting something to my sister. Helaena left to stay with our parents a few days ago, but she sure left her mark on us while she was staying here. Cordelia and my sister got so close to one another in the matter of a week, and I don't know whether to be thrilled or jealous by how quickly they became friends.
Dragging my gaze over Cordelia, I feel my lips twitch as I catch her biting her bottom lip and smiling at her conversation with Helaena. After a second of me admiring her as she stares at her phone, she peeks up at me with a glint in her eyes. Then, setting her phone down on the counter, Cordelia tilts her in an overly cute way while purring to me and fiddling with my belt.
