Cordelia's P.O.V.
"Can you hand me the flat-head screwdriver, baby?"
Aemond hums casually while staring at the light fixture in the dining room and tinkering with something. Glancing over his tools, I pick the one that looks like what he's describing and lift it up for him to take. Standing beside the dinner table while Aemond is standing on top of it, I watch as he takes the tool out of my grasp to use on the light.
Apparently, the dining room light went out this morning, and it is not because it needs a new lightbulb. So Aemond Targaryen, a sudden handy man, is fixing it with tools I didn't even know we had in the garage. I somehow ended up being his right-hand man and be the person to give him the tools he needs while messing with the light fixture.
Though, I do not have a freaking clue of what is going on or what I'm handing him.
Aegon's upstairs doing classwork right now since I demanded him to do it before going out tonight, and Daeron is on a date with a girl. Which is why I'm the one supervising Aemond as he fixes the light while handing him the equipment. However, we have been at this for half an hour now and I'm not sure if he is making progress or making things worse.
Twenty more minutes of this and then I'm going to tell Aemond to call a guy.
I've seen Aemond work on his car and motorcycle, but this seems different and by the look on his face, I know he's realizing that too. The middle brother has this serious, irritated expression on his face as he inspects the inside of the light fixture, but he wears that expression most of the time. Cocking my head to the side with my face angled up, I watch Aemond as he works and wait patiently for the next thing he needs from me.
"Baby, give me the wire strippers, would you?"
Aemond sighs while messing with something going into the ceiling and lowering the last tool I gave him. Taking the tool from him, I set it with the rest on the table before searching for the next gadget. However, after a second of looking over the tools, I realize a wire stripper looks nothing like the name.
None of these gadgets look like a wire or a half-naked girl... Lord, I've been hanging out with Aegon for too long.
"No... No, baby. Little to the left- No. No." Aemond coaches me through what I'm looking for on the table with a gentle tone while staring down at me. Hovering my hand over tools, I feel like I'm playing hot and cold for the wire stripper as he directs me. "Up... No- You're alright. No, baby girl. Next one. That's it."
Picking up the wire stripper, I peer up at him and lift the gadget in my hand to him. Smiling at me in thanks, he takes it from my grasp before facing the light fixture again. A heartbeat later, Aemond's gaze darts back down to me as if something is not right, and he asks in a charming tone.
"Can I get a smile, baby?"
Blinking at him once in utter confusion, I suddenly realize I'm frowning at him with pouting lips. My expression must have changed in the middle of searching for the stripper gadget and Aemond quickly noticed. Giving him my best smile, I put my hands on my hips and stare up at him awkwardly.
"There's my girl."
Aemond hums with satisfaction before bringing his attention back to the light fixture. I feel my skin burning at his statement and I bite my bottom lip as a hot blush swarms my face. However, after a second of flustering over his words, the memory of the other night pops into my thoughts.
Only two days ago, Aemond and I ran into each other at a restaurant, which ended up with us talking in a locked bathroom. Aemond and Alys were on a date while I went out for dinner with the Velaryon twin sisters. We said intense things to one another, exchanged meaningful expressions, and then I left the restaurant without Aemond coming after me.
