I awoke to someone carrying me upstairs and begun to panic a little before realizing it was Nate. I must have fell asleep during the movie.
"Nate? " I asked when he laid me on my bed.
"Oh, I didn't mean to wake you. "
"It's fine, you didn't need to carry me upstairs. "
"I didn't want you sleeping on that uncomfortable couch. "
I nodded my head.
"Well I should get going, " he said.
"I guess. "
He smiled weakly and kissed my head.
"Goodnight. "
"Wait, " I said.
Although my attempt to cuddle with him earlier failed, I was going to ask him to stay the night.
"Yes, Claire? "
"Can you stay?"
"I shouldn't. "
"Please. "
He sighed, but nodded his head, agreeing to stay.
"Can I take my clothes off? "he asked.
"It's nothing I haven't seen before, " I joked.
"You're right," he chuckled.
I watched him take off his shirt and pants and then he slowly slid into his side of the bed.
I laid my head down on my pillow and awkwardly looked around my room, trying to fall asleep.
"Come here," Nate said unexpectedly.
I sat up, but I was really confused.
"Here."
He opened his arms and nodded his head.
I slowly laid on his chest. He wrapped his arms around me. I tensed up, but soon relaxed. I couldn't fall asleep, so I just laid there.
"Nate," I whispered.
"Yeah. "
"Can we talk? "
"About? "
"Anything. "
"Sure. "
I thought about what else to say.
"I don't know what to talk about."
He chuckled.
"Hmm. I don't know either. "
We laid there in silence and Bruno came to join us.
"Hey boy, "Nate said.
Bruno crawled under the covered and curled up into his ball.
"Looks like he wanted to join mommy and daddy, "I laughed.
Nate chuckled.
"I've missed this."
"What? " I asked.
"Having someone to lay down with at night. "
"What Johnson doesn't like to cuddle? "
I decided to joke, but I was happy that he missed me maybe as much as I missed him.
"No, "he laughed.
"I've missed a lot of things we did,"I sighed.
"I know the feeling. "
