Polo whispers, "I have to go!" as I wrap my arms around his neck, "No!" He pulls away "I don't want you to leave" I kiss him again. He chuckles getting off the bed "I don't want to leave out when everyone else wakes."
He begins putting on his clothes and leans in and gives me one last kiss. "I'll see you soon," he says, smiling. I watch him walk out the door, my heart heavy with sadness.
For the last couple of weeks, Polo and I have been chilling honestly. I knew this moment would come eventually, but I was still not ready for him to leave my room. I take a deep breath and try to enjoy the moment. I can still feel his soft lips on mine.
We are still not together like I hoped and we are keeping this little thing a secret until we find a way to tell people.
I groan grabbing my phone. "Today is going to be a long day" I text Summer. I've decided it was good for me to return home during winter break to visit Summer and discuss the shit with my dad.
I just need permission to go. So tonight I'm going to announce that I will be going back home. I take a deep breath and prepare myself for the conversation. I know it won't be easy, but I'm determined to make it happen.
As I step out of my room and into the chaotic hallway, I didn't know this was how Ford's house looked on Thanksgiving morning. Throwing the dirty clothes into the dirty clothes bag, I shake my head.
"Jesus," I say making my way downstairs and seeing the mess on the stairs "Sorry we have to hurry up and get this stuff done" Mary shouts from the kitchen. My brows furrow as I walk into the kitchen "It's only 8 am on Thanksgiving morning what are we in a rush for?" I ask.
Mary looks up from her bowl of flour, her face flushed and her eyes tired. "We have to head to Paradise Resort to have dinner", she says. I nod "ok that's fine but why can't we have it here? I mean there is plenty of space in the dining room."
She shakes her head "You don't understand. We have this tradition that we go to Paradise Resort every year for Thanksgiving and eat with almost the whole town" My mouth drops. "Whole town? Do I have to come?"
She waves me off "I'm exaggerating it's just the boys and their family" I nod and start helping her, knowing that she's right. She adds, "And we need to get to the shelter before lunch is over. We promised to help serve Thanksgiving dinner."
"For how long?" I ask washing the dishes "Oh not for long maybe 4 hours." She smiles and says, "We'll be done before you know it. I'm sure it will be a great experience."
I nod my head and reluctantly agree. As I finish the dishes, I take a deep breath and prepare myself for the day ahead. I know it's going to be difficult, but I'm determined to make the most of it.
Stairs rattling in the distance "Here comes the boys" Mary says looking up. "Why does it sound like a zoo in here?" I roll my eyes and Mary laughs "What's up family!" Adrian and his friends enter the kitchen.
"It was better when you were sleeping" I shrug my shoulders "Oh yeah?" Adrian asks. Mary looks at me and smiles. We all start talking, laughing, and joking around. Soon, the kitchen is filled with laughter and the sound of our voices echoing off the walls.
I jump on the island countertop. "You guys better start getting ready before it hits one o'clock. We are out before then" Mary says stirring the pot. As Adrian runs out for the first shower, Haden runs after him and calls out, "No I call dips."
Me, Polo, and Mary begin to laugh "I swear I forgot those boys are 21" Mary shakes her head. "Can I use your shower? By the time they all get out the water will be cold" I complain. Polo comes closer to me "Or we can just hop in the shower together" he whispers as he smirks.
