Wednesday's POV:
I trudged through the woods carefully, paying close attention to my surroundings and turning around at every sound that I didn't make. As I heard yet another branch snap behind me, my instincts started telling me I was in danger. I needed to be ready for whatever was about to come.
I turned around to see what made the sound, but I saw nothing. Must have been a rabbit or some animal.
As I turned back around, I was swept from my ankles and I fell backward. I landed on my back, knocking the oxygen out of my lungs. My ankles were tied together and I took a moment to catch my breath before seeing who was there.
But when I looked down at my feet, there wasn't anyone there. I furrowed my eyes before my arms were yanked at such a strength and someone held my wrists together tightly with their hand. I started to be dragged across the forest floor and I squirmed, trying to break free.
I moved my head upward to see the mysterious person. "Xavier," I muttered weakly.
He had a smile on his face, meaning he knew what he was doing. "Hello, Wednesday."
I tried to break free again, but it made him grip my wrists harder. "What are you doing?" I grunted after giving up trying to escape.
"Let's see how you like it—chained up to a wall, no food, no water, nothing. For a whole week!" he exclaimed as he dragged me.
"Fuck you," I choked out. The artist just chuckled wryly.
I turned my head as far as I could to see the abandoned building coming into the distance. I couldn't even run—I didn't know how to escape. I was done for...
Suddenly, he dropped my upper body onto the ground with a thud. My head hit the ground and I winced as it began to pound. As I looked in front of me, I saw him standing over me. What was he planning? Was he not going to chain me up?
"Actually, it'll be way more fun to kill you than chain you up against a wall," he said as if he read my mind, a smirk growing on his face.
I tried to use my hands to push myself upward, but he pushed me back down. He kneeled on my arms and slowly drew a knife from his jacket, pointing the blade down at me.
My eyes widened. I had no escape—I couldn't use my hands and my legs were pointless. I struggled, moving my head back and forth. This was the night I was going to die.
Xavier held the knife with two hands above his head, aiming right for my chest. I saw the silver blade glisten in the moonlight and I braced myself for impact.
I'm sorry, Enid.
A sharp roar echoed throughout the forest, causing us both to jerk our heads toward the direction of the noise. I saw a light-furred creature charge at us and jump at Xavier, knocking him off me. I gasped and began to untie the rope around my ankles. Once it fell to the ground, I stood up to look at the chaos next to me.
The light-furred creature stepped away from Xavier. He was on the ground, lifeless, ripped to shreds, unrecognizable.
I spotted the pink and blue fur on the creature's head and I immediately knew it was Enid. Parts of her fur were dyed red from Xavier's blood. The wolf began to shrink, returning to her human form.
