Wednesday's POV:

Tyler crouched down to be at eye level with me and I glared at him. "What do you want with me?" I grunted.

There was always a plan in situations like this. I needed to know what it was. I had to escape and get back to Nevermore—Enid was probably worried sick. Speaking of that, how long had it been?

"You're the master, Wednesday," the boy said with an evil grin.

My eyes widened and my mind suddenly went foggy. Hyde was the only word I could think of. He was using me for evil, and he knew it.

"Why not someone else?" I asked once I finally focused on what was in front of me.

Tyler stood up and snapped his fingers. "Come down!" he called out, staring at his feet.

Was he talking to me?

No, he wasn't. I heard shuffling before another figure appeared next to Tyler.

Ajax.

"What are you doing here?" I growled.

The gorgon stepped toward me with a smirk on his face before squatting in front of me. "Getting my revenge, Wednesday," he said, slowly pulling an object out of his pocket.

A syringe filled with a light purple liquid...

"Enid's mine."

Enid's POV:

It has been days since I last saw Wednesday. Yoko helped me search for her day and night—we even sent out a search party. Nothing.

It was like she was dead and no one had a clue. It was breaking me—not being able to find her. I eventually gave up and locked myself in my dorm. I missed her so much.

I tossed another crumpled tissue onto the floor, along with all the others. We had gotten no report of anyone seeing her yet, and every minute I was praying that that would change.

I was on Wednesday's bed, constantly wishing she'd appear right in front of me. I have been crying continuously, and I finally was able to stop.

The pain I was feeling was not a pain I could deal with. I was coping badly when I should've still been out there searching for Wednesday until I physically couldn't anymore.

Yoko checked in on me once or twice a day, making sure I was eating and helping me to the bath occasionally. But for the rest of the time, I was curled up on Wednesday's bed, wishing for some sort of miracle to happen.

I wish you were here. Where are you, Wens?

There was a knock on the door and someone walked in. "Enid?"

It was Yoko. She walked over to me and sat down on the edge of the bed, placing her hands on top of mine. "Are you okay?" she asked.

I looked down at her hands and quickly pulled mine away, burying them in my chest. I curled into a tighter ball and buried my face as well, trying to stop any tears from falling. I felt an arm around my arms and I realized that the vampire had moved to lie behind me, holding me close.

I started to relax into the touch, but then stopped quickly—uncomfortable. It reminded me too much of Wednesday. I sat up and let my legs hang off the bed.

Yoko perked up, confused. "I'm sorry," I muttered before stuffing my head into my hands.

I couldn't bear the thought of Wednesday not being here. She was my everything, and now she was gone.

"We'll find her. Don't worry, Enid." I heard my friend say. She was sitting next to me now.

Damn, how was I not noticing when she moved? I needed to get out of my head. "Doesn't seem like it," I mumbled.

She had been gone for days—no idea how much longer. She could just never come back.

And that thought broke me and I began to sob into my hands. Yoko moved closer and wrapped her arms around me. I cried into her shirt, knowing she didn't care.

"I miss Wednesday," I sobbed.

"I know you do, E," she spoke softly, rubbing my back. "Shh, it's okay."

Thoughts intruded my mind again. What happened if she wasn't happy with me and left? But then why was the window broken? What about since Ajax came back, she fled and left me all on my own?

More tears fell as unwanted thoughts filled my mind. I wanted to get them out.

I miss you, Wens. Please come back. I need you.

Tyler's POV:

"It'll take a couple of days of it to take effect, I said as I walked up the stairs with Ajax behind.

"And she won't remember anything?" he asked as we walked into my kitchen.

"She will, just not everything. She won't even remember dating Enid—we won't tell her that. The only things she'd remember are up to what happened last year before the fight. Then we tell her whatever we want now," I explained.

"So I can tell her I'm dating Enid?" Ajax's face brightened up.

"No. She'll still think that, remember?" I grumbled, annoyed at how slow he was.

He hummed and nodded as I walked to the fridge. I pulled out some leftover food and threw it into the microwave.

"So I still don't understand how that thing works on her. Did we erase her memories or something?" Ajax asked as he sat down at the table.

I sighed and turned around, preparing a long but simple explanation. "No, it doesn't do any damage to her brain. The liquid in the syringe was a toxin from a rare Nevermore plant and it basically just scrambled her brain's short-term storage. Her memories from the past few months are still there, but are like... temporarily locked away. Does that make sense?" I asked, the microwave beeping at the same time I was finished.

"I guess," the gorgon mumbled as I took the food and placed it on the table for us to eat. "But is it permanent?"

"Unfortunately, no. The toxin will eventually fade as her body clears it. But it lasts a decent amount of time, but we still have limited time, so we have to make sure our plan works."

For the next few minutes, we ate off of the small plate. As we were almost finished, Ajax spoke up. "So once she regains consciousness, we tell her what we want her to know basically."

I nodded my head in confirmation and once we were done eating, I motioned for him to follow me.

We walked back down to the basement and over to the unconscious girl who was slumped against the wall. I stood tall over her. "She should be waking up soon," I stated.

I looked at Ajax who had a cold look on his face as he stared at the girl. A sinister smirk crossed my own as I looked back down at her.

"Nevermore will be ours."
