Enid's POV:
Wednesday took me out on a walk early in the morning, around like eight. She led me to the forest and we walked along a path. It was very peaceful, but I didn't know why we were doing this. I didn't care though, it was nice.
The birds chirped from the trees and there was a small breeze that felt really nice. The path was littered with leaves and sticks and I tried my best to avoid stepping on them, but Wednesday wasn't.
I didn't enjoy the sounds. They reminded me of the night when I wolfed out and saved Wednesday from the Hyde.
I pushed the thought away and tried to block out the noise. I took a moment to look at my girlfriend—the way her face was shaped, her dark, void-like eyes. She looked more than hot.
She looked like a goddess.
The raven's head turned to look at me. Her facial expression was... soft? No glare? Felt kinda odd, but of course, I enjoyed it.
I felt a hand grasp mine and I looked down to see our fingers interlocked. I glanced up to find Wednesday facing forward again. I swore I saw the tiniest smile on her face, and that made me smile as I looked forward. We continued walking down the path, my eyes occasionally drifting down to our hands.
My ears perked up to a small sound in a nearby bush. Our heads snapped toward it before a twig snapped behind us.
Our hands fell apart as I extended my claws. I tried to hide the scared look on my face so Wednesday would think I was strong and brave. I needed to protect her.
I frantically observed the forest, making sure there was no danger nearby. My hand reached to grab Wednesday's and once I felt her cold skin against mine, I let out a sigh of relief.
But her fingers didn't wrap around mine, so I was holding her hand, she wasn't holding mine. I turned around to look at her and she was staring at me, emotionless.
"Wednesday?" I questioned, my body dropping the tension.
"Enid—" She tried to speak, but something lunged at her, ripping her hand from mine.
I gasped as a large creature stood over Wednesday, looking down at her hungrily. The girl scrambled to her feet and tried to run, but one swipe and she was back on the ground.
"Wednesday!" I screamed.
My girlfriend called for my help and I breathed deeply. I had to wolf out and save her.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, imagining myself wolfing out. I tried to force a transformation, but nothing happened. I opened my eyes and found myself still in my human form.
My head snapped up as Wednesday screamed. The Hyde slashed at her torso, leaving a huge gash.
I sobbed loudly and fell to my knees, screaming in my head for me to wolf out. But I couldn't, I felt stuck. I couldn't even move toward my girlfriend, all I could do was watch her get gutted.
Her screams filled the air around us and I screamed as well.
Wednesday's POV:
I woke up to cries from the other side of the room. I peered over to find Enid crying in her sleep, jerking her body left and right as well. Another nightmare.
I looked at the clock on my desk and saw it was early in the afternoon. Our date last night lasted a long time—we fell asleep in the graveyard. We got kicked out early in the morning so we headed back to Nevermore and crashed again.
I stood up and walked over to Enid's bed. I saw one of the stuffed bears I gave her on the floor so I picked it up and set it against her pillow, away from her thrashing.
I sat down on the edge of her bed and placed a hand on her forearm. "Hey... Enid..." I spoke quietly.
Some parts of her face glimmered in the light so I used my sleeve to softly wipe her tears away. As I was doing so, her eyes shot open and she gasped, one of her hands grabbing my wrist.
"Wednesday!" she blurted.
I grabbed her hand on my wrist with my opposite hand so I could fix my sleeve. I held it firmly as I spoke softly to her.
"You're okay, I'm right here," I whispered.
The wolf took a couple of deep breaths before taking her hand back. "S-sorry, just a nightmare," she stuttered, sniffling as she sat up.
I nodded and tried to think of something to make her day better. It was the weekend, so we technically had the whole day to ourselves. "Would you like to watch movies all day?" I asked.
My girlfriend's face brightened a little—enough to not make me worry as much. "Yes, yes!" she exclaimed in excitement.
I reached over to grab her laptop off her desk. "Okay, but it has to be horror," I told her sternly, placing the device on her lap.
"But I hate scary movies!" she whined.
"Okay, and?" I responded, leveling a glare.
She pouted and huffed as she opened her laptop to go on a streaming service application. I swung my legs onto her bed, getting as close to her as possible without touching.
After a few minutes of arguing, we finally decided on Scream. Honestly, horror is the only genre I enjoy—thriller as well. To be honest, I also wanted Enid to cling to me during the "scary" parts.
Which she did, not even five minutes into the movie. She removed herself almost immediately, apologizing and respecting my boundaries, but came right back again.
For the rest of the day, we finished watching all of the Scream movies. As it turned night, I didn't get out of her bed—I wanted to stay. We turned away from each other though as we decided to go to sleep.
"I love you, Wednesday." I heard her say.
Wait, what did she just say? Did she just say that she... loved me?
I stared off into space. I couldn't say it back, I never had before. It just felt... weird.
"I..." I tried to speak, but my words got jumbled so I said nothing.
I just couldn't get it out. It felt stuck in my throat.
I soon heard Enid's soft snores, indicating she had fallen asleep. I didn't know when I'd be able to say it out loud...
I love you too, Enid.
