Wednesday's POV:

I was packing to go home for winter break. My mother and father would be arriving shortly. I was secretly excited to see my little brother again. I missed torturing him.

Enid hadn't bothered me at all today—even in classes. Maybe I finally scared her off of me; which was good.

I had already told Tyler I would be leaving, so the plan was being put on pause until I returned.

I glanced over at my roommate randomly. She was sitting on the edge of her bed with her head hung. "What's wrong with you?" I asked.

She looked up at me for a second before looking back down at her feet. "My parents aren't taking me home so I'm stuck at Nevermore while all of my friends leave." Enid huffed.

I pressed my lips into a tight line and sighed softly. I thought for a moment—should I invite her to stay with me?

I was never fond of her mother. Ever since she told me about what happened last semester at Parents' Weekend. I despised it.

Suddenly, the door swung open and my parents walked in, interrupting my thought process. "Oh, my little storm cloud!" my father exclaimed as he walked toward me with his arms open.

I glared at him and stood uncomfortably as he hugged me. Once he pulled away, my mother stepped toward me.

"Dear, are you ready to get going?" she asked, her eyes drifting over to my belongings.

I opened my mouth to respond, but then slammed it shut as I saw Enid out of the corner of my eye. I looked at her as she watched my family and me interact.

"Yes, but I have a request," I said slowly, and the woman hummed. "May Enid stay with us for the break? Her family isn't taking her home."

My mother looked at my roommate and smiled. "Of course."

I nodded before turning my whole body to Enid who had a huge smile on her face. She was kicking her legs joyfully and made eye contact with me.

"Well? You heard her," I said gently. I didn't want to sound too rough.

The wolf hopped off the bed and immediately began packing her stuff. It didn't take her long as she soon had two suitcases ready, then we began to move them to the car.

Lurch placed our things into the trunk and opened the door so Enid and I could get in. My parents sat across from us and the girl next to me started a conversation.

About half an hour into the drive, the car grew quiet. My parents were too focused on each other, and Enid was looking out the window, listening to music.

I sighed quietly and looked out the opposite window. I started to think about how I would continue the plan when I returned to Nevermore, but a weight on my lap disrupted my thoughts.

I snapped my head downward to find my roommate's head on my leg, her eyes closed. She fell asleep...

I grumbled to myself. I was going to get paid for this later.

My eyes slowly moved to my parents who had a smile on their faces, eyes bouncing from Enid to me.

I rolled my eyes and continued to look out the window, praying this would go by fast.
