Wednesday's POV:
My mother motioned for me to follow her after we finished eating dinner. So, I told Enid that I'd be right back before going up to my parents' room.
I was hoping she finally had my gift for Enid, as Christmas was tomorrow.
I watched as she reached into her drawer and pulled out a black square box. She handed it to me and I felt the outside material—black velvet with a dark red glass heart in the center of the lid.
I carefully opened the box and there was a silver band inside. I took it out and examined the engravings. A small black heart on the outside of the band, and the words "Cara Mia" on the inside.
I felt the corner of my lips tug into a smirk before I forced it back. I placed the ring back into the box and closed it.
"Thank you, Mother," I said, lifting my head to look up at her. She smiled sweetly and I turned around to leave, but then stopped as I remembered something. "Wait, how's..." I trailed off as I looked at her closet briefly before looking back at her again.
My mother hummed and nodded before walking over to her closet and opening it. "See for yourself, it's yours after all," she replied.
I headed toward her closet. "Correction: it's Enid's," I corrected her.
I flipped on the light switch and observed the narrow space. I stepped toward the cage in the corner and crouched down to look inside.
The orange kitten was lying asleep, its body falling and rising ever so gently as it purred.
I sighed softly before standing and leaving her room without another word. My Christmas presents were planned and going well so far. I had it all under control.
I entered my bedroom where Enid was sitting on my bed, scrolling on her phone.
"Has your mother contacted you yet?" I asked, announcing my presence as she was too oblivious.
The wolf glanced up at me as I walked toward her. "Nope." She sighed.
That was good to hear. I had told Enid to tell me if her mother ever tried to contact her again. I let her know I'd handle it myself. I would not allow that imbecile to be treating my Enid with disrespect.
I held out my hand, and she just stared at it like she was afraid of it. "Come on, my family is making cookies soon," I eventually said, still waiting for her to take my hand.
Once she did, I led her down to the kitchen. It was the Addams' Christmas tradition to make cookies and exchange presents. The whole Santa idea was removed a few years ago after I openly told Pugsley the truth.
As we walked into the kitchen, my parents were getting the ingredients out as Enid sat beside Pugsley on the stool, all giddy.
I rolled my eyes, noticeably uncomfortable with that kind of behavior. But because of Enid, I was slowly getting used to it.

The cookies were placed on the table, still warm from being in the oven. I wasn't a big fan of cookies, but they were tolerable.
