Complicated

Chapter 4

We have two and a half days left before Josh and I had to go back to school. Our mum's had gone to the city for the next two days which meant my house would be unoccupied and I would stay with Josh. We ate take away Chinese and put Lacy to bed after around two hours of playing with the Barbie's. I sat on the lounge with Josh and I flicked the channel to Adventure Time.

"You like this show?" Josh asked me

I blushed a little and smiled "Yes, what about it?"

"There is something strange about you" He smiled. Pulling a strand of hair off of my cheek he tucked it behind my ear.

"Everyone is a little strange. Even you" I said, my breath became staggered and short as I saw his face so close to mine.

Josh smiled and kissed me on the cheek, his lips were even softer than I imagined.

A tingle shot through my cheek followed by a warm sensation that trickled all the way down my spine, my arms and even legs. This came as a shock and made me move away so quickly I felt like I blurred.

"Oh I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that" He said moving to the other side of the lounge with his fingers toughing his lips.

"No, it's fine" I said as I smiled to him, still trying to figure out what just happened.

"Are you su-" he was cut off by a buzz on my phone "You should get that"

'Perfect' I thought to myself.

TYLER: HI ELLIE, I KNOW YOU DON'T WANT TO TALK TO ME, YOU KEEP SAYING WE WILL TALK LATER... ELLIE IT'S LATER, I STILL LOVE YOU AND I WANT YOU BACK. DO YOU STILL LOVE ME?

I scoffed lightly then replied;

ME: TYLER, YOU NEED TO STOP LOVING ME AND MOVE ON; I HAVE NOW IT'S YOUR TURN. OPEN YOUR EYES AND FIND A GIRL WHO CARES ABOUT YOU. IT'S OVER.

"Who is it?" Josh asked

"Tyler, my um... ex-boyfriend" I replied to him in a soft tone.

Josh's expression changed and he looked slightly protective, with a hint of sadness and jealousy "What did he have to say?"

I could see that it would pain him to hear it, but he did ask. I read him the message and looked as if I was replying to it.

"What are you saying back" He asked sadly, he began moving closer as if he was unsure what was going to happen, as if there was something still going on between Tyler and I, and he lost all chance of having anything between us.

"I'm saying; Omg Tyler, I do still love you, and yes I forgive you and will take you back. I love you" I said in a sarcastic lovey dovey voice... but I don't think Josh heard the sarcasm.

His whole face dropped and he slowly resumed his position on the other side of the lounge. "Josh? Is everything ok? It was a joke. I told him that I had moved on and that he should to, that I didn't love him and that it was over"

"Really?" Josh asked softly

"Really really" I answered him.

Another buzz sounded from my phone... another text from Tyler

TYLER: MOVED ON? WHAT DO YOU MEAN MOVED ON? WHO IS HE? WHY IS HE ANY BETTER FOR YOU THAN I AM? WHY ARER YO-

I didn't bother reading the rest or even replying, I just looked

Josh in the eyes and smiled to him, but it doesn't seem like fate wants us together.

"ELLIE!?!?!" Lacy called out from upstairs

"Looks like I have been summoned" I laughed as there was a knock on the door, I threw my hands in the air in a laugh and began to walk up the stairs "I give up. You get the door, I'll go to Lacy"
