This house never seemed to end, I had been walking in high stiletto plat formed heels for around ten minutes, all the mirrors around me had been covered and I was going to get into my dress, I wasn't allowed to look at myself, not even in the reflection of the windows.

I now knew that this was overly ridiculous, I caught glimpses of people out in the gardens sipping champagne in dresses that looked like they could fit the Russian Circus in there. There were ruffles and feathers, diamantes and flowers, bows and rivers, not to mention the excessive amount of tulle and flair on these dresses, I felt like I was in one of those 1800's pictures we studied in History back in year 7. This was ridiculous!

Closing my eyes I stood on a platform, wearing just my undies and a strapless bra, in front of a crowd of people... Self-conscious teenager over here!

"Lift your right leg" I heard a voice command, the husk sounded like a crazy cat lady so all I did was hold back laughter as a warm, large hand gripped my ankle lightly and positioning it inside of what I hoped was my dress "Ok now the left"

I felt the smooth fabric slide up my body as it was lifted and positioned into place followed by a command to 'BREATHE IN' and the sound of a zip. While my eyes were still closed, everyone took this opportunity to do the final touches to my makeup and hair... I think I was just pushed into a cake and sprayed stiff with hairspray...

Slipping into the same heels as before I was ushered off the platform, I was pulled forward gentle by some female hands "Okay everyone, Avalon. Please open your eyes in THREE" the husky voice brought anticipation to me, I felt the need to open my eyes, the desire to see my reflection kicked in "TWO" my thoughts began to race as wether I looked like the lady with the peacock feathers sticking out of her black dress in every direction, or would I look like a clown "ONE!"

A light breeze caressed my face as the fabric was pulled off the mirror, opening my eyes slowly, the light hurt, like waking up in the middle of the day, sun in your eyes after a long, deep sleep. After the swirls and polka-dots left my vision, there I stood. Although it didn't look like me, because I looked like I was in a fairy-tale.

My hair was coiffured into an elegant array of curls; the front parts of my hair were swept-back into a half hair pony-tale leaving only a few thick bundles of hair, curling to define my face. My hair looked luxuriant and glossy, if this was going to be my year 12 Prom, I would have blown away the crowd.

My makeup was just the way I liked it, it looked natural – enough – with thin fake eyelashes and a thin line of eyeliner my eyes were coloured with a light gold which blended into a brown, both were applied lightly only giving off a light defining colour to help make my eyes... Pop.

Perfectly blended foundation and powder which didn't look like I just had a foundation-cake fight (Surprisingly) covered my face with a light blush and a light pink-champagne lipstick and gloss sitting on my lips. The natural and simple makeup wasn't the only thing to take my attention; I hadn't even looked at the dress.

I stood in a light blue-water coloured ball gown that features a strapless, sweetheart bodice adorned with dazzling beaded accents that sprinkle down into the luxurious layered tulle skirt that sat scraping the floor.  It was a very fun and playful look and I loved it!
