Lorena's POV:

I've been awake for what seems like the last five minutes just staring at Laurence's bed. He's not here. I decide I should get up now and go and find him. What happened last night still doesn't change what we have to do this morning. Although it'll be a bit more awkward. I look to Cadenza and see she's still sleeping. I decide it's best to leave her to rest more. I walk downstairs and I see Laurence drinking a glass of water. I reach the bottom and he looks at me and then places his cup in the sink. He turns around to face me.

Laurence: "Good morning Lord Lorena, did you sleep well?"

I figure he's asking me because of the murder and not what happened last night. I answer him truthfully.

"I slept a little uneasy."

Laurence: "Understandable. After all this is a murder we are investigating... I could feel how uneasy the village was from the moment we set foot here..."

"Same."

Laurence: ".............. I still can't believe Hayden is gone............."

I see him look down so I try to change the subject of his death to how we're gonna start investigating Castor.

"Where do we begin?"

Laurence: "Oh, right... I need to put aside my mourning for now... after all if anyone is to mourn, it is Cadenza... we need to speak with the Head Guard of Meteli, who was Hayden's primary Guard. We need to gather all information before we confront the Chicken Shaman. Let's start by talking to him. Meteli has changed since I've last been here so... will have to find where the Guards are stationed.

I'll follow you my Lord."

I nod my head as I step outside to see Ulrich walking towards us.

Ulrich: "Lord Lorena, Laurence... morning. I would say "good" morning, but... I've been so on edge lately, so I can't even bring myself to say that..."

"Ulrich, we need to speak with the Head Guard here."

Ulrich: "... Gale... I'll take you to him. Follow me."

We nod as we follow him. He leads us to a building close to the end of the village. He opens the door and we walk in to see that the inside is very small. Ulrich stands next to a man as they both gave me and Laurence.

Ulrich: "Gale, allow me to introduce Lord Lorena of Phoenix Drop and Laurence, Guard of Phoenix Drop."

Gale: "It's a pleasure to meet you two. My name is Gale, Head Guard of Meteli."

Laurence: "Gale... what were you doing at the time Hayden was murdered?"

Gale: "I was asleep, as was Hayden. I sensed a noise coming from his house and I quickly headed there, however whoever executed his assassination was faster than any Guard could respond to... the culprit had just done the deed and jumped out of the window before I could catch him. The only thing I was able to pull from his person to identify him was a feather... a chicken feather to be exact."

Laurence: "... Do you not sleep with one eye open? HOW COULD YOU ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!?"

Gale: "I beg your pardon?"

Laurence: "IF I WERE HERE THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!"

Gale: "Well you weren't, Laurence... if I recall, you resigned your position as Head Guard of Meteli. So to say this wouldn't happen under your watch is completely irrational."
