Gavi POV

"EHHHHHH CAMPEONES!!!!!" everyone was shouting and cheering in the locker room.
Man, what a great season I had had. Winning La Liga and now the Nations League, I was finally ready for summer break now.
"Oi, did you catch the new TVE reporter?" Simón shouted.
"She's not from TVE, she's just filling in from La Vanguardia." Dani Carvajal shouted back.
"She's a bitch" Aymeric said. "How did you feel when your shot hit the post?" he mimicked a girl with a high-pitched voice and everyone laughed, including me.
Like shit, that's how you feel, what a stupid question.
"Shut up! She doesn't do sports, give her a break. She's a politics journalist and extremely good - I read her pieces when informing myself on politics here, she's way better than the guys from El Mundo or El País" Rodri said angrily.
Politics? What was she doing at a stadium?
"Well, not only does she ask stupid questions, but there's also nothing to see. Flat as a cardboard" Aymeric scoffed. "I want Veronica back" he said laughing and most of the guys joined in.

"Gaviiiiii you're next with her!! Let's hope Veronica comes back soon so you can learn more about the female anatomy when standing in front of her" someone joked and many laughed.
How disgusting, most of the guys here had girlfriends or were even married and still talked about women like that. I put on my slides and walked outside, curious to see this reporter.
Politics... I was expecting a middle-aged woman, probably with thin, dyed hair.

But instead I was met with the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on. Shiny hair and a beautiful smile, as she was laughing at something the cameraman had just told her.
"Hola" I said and smiled.
She looked at me weirdly and replied seriously, the smile from a few seconds today having gone: "Finally, you've been taking your time. Let's get started: How do you think your win today will reflect on Spanish society with general elections coming up soon?"
What?
"Erm... I hope that the people at home are just as happy celebrating this win with us as we are absolutely electric now." I replied and smiled at her, hoping to have answered to her satisfaction.
"Are you happy with the Spanish representatives here this evening? Or would you have wished for more recognition for this achievement?"
These questions were making my head spin. Did she know that this wasn't superbrain Rodri in front of her, but just a boy who loved playing football? But hey, her bossy tone was hot and definitely turned me on, which probably was the reason for the sheepish grin on my face.
"No, I am very happy. Football is about the fans, they're who we care about the most. I hope to inspire young boys when they see me have fun on the pitch, just as I felt inspired by watching Puyol, Torres or Xavi when I was little." I replied and smiled.
And then I almost fainted as she also shot me a smile. Yessssss - she had liked my answer. World 0 - Gavi 1.
"Thank you very much for your time. Congratulations on your win and enjoy the celebrations" she said and smiled.
"Thank you" I said and smiled, but my feet didn't move.

Shit, I wanted to talk to her, but I didn't know what, so I had to let her go and walked back towards the locker room, but was blocked on my way by Sofia, the team's press officer.
"You're lucky she wasn't in a worse mood than that after you made her wait 25 minutes" she said angrily.
"25 minutes?! Sorry, I... we were celebrating" I stammered. Had we really talked about that girl for 25 minutes back in the locker room?
"You better say sorry or TVE may not be so friendly with you in future." she hissed.
I just grinned. Cool, I got to talk to her again.
"What are you grinning so stupidly, go!" Sofia said and I walked back like a school boy just having been scolded by his Mum.

"Do you need something?" one of the camera guys asked me as I stood next to them again and that made her turn around too, shit, I hadn't even gotten her name until now.
"Uh - erm... yeah... I, you are all coming to the after party, right?" I asked and everyone nodded.
"After party?" the girl asked confusedly.
"Yeah, uh... press usually comes too.. off duty" I said and smiled. "Sorry for making you wait by the way, I really didn't catch the time - maybe I could buy you a drink tonight to excuse myself properly?" I asked.
Smooth, Pablo, smooth.
She just raised and eyebrow. "You can have my business card with my work number" she said dryly, underlining the word work heavily. She pushed a small card into my hand and turned around again.

I smiled and turned around too to walk back to the locker room. When seeing the boys, I quickly hid the card in my small toiletry bag. After taking tons of pictures, we finally made it back to the bus, where I looked for one specific person. And thank God the place next to him was still unoccupied.

"Hey Rodri, I need your help" I said while slumping down next to him.
"You... help from me?" he asked confusedly. We never were really close, but right now he was the only one who could probably help me.
"What do you know about the journalist? I want to offer her a drink tonight and I need stuff to talk about" I said, sounding a bit exasperated.
Rodri broke out in a laugh, but when he saw that I was serious, he quickly wiped the smile off from his face and replied: "Uh, I don't really know, she's writing a lot about the upcoming elections. Oh, and I saw a teaser about an upcoming exclusive of hers on the newspaper's Instagram, she did an interview with Princess Leonor."
"Princess Leonor? You want me to talk to the girl I have a crush on about the girl who has a crush on me?" I asked him.
"Ok, maybe not the best idea. Just ask her about what and where she studied, that should be a good start for a conversation. But... Pablo, I'm saying this as an older friend: isn't she maybe a bit old for you?" he asked seriously.
"She doesn't look like 40, come on. I'll talk to her and see" I replied and he nodded.
