Today was the day. This evening, I was launching my book and I couldn't wait for people to finally read and experience my story. My whole family had assembled in Barcelona and we were currently sat in a restaurant, having lunch all together. Mum, Dad, Kike and his girlfriend Cami, Grandma, my aunt and uncle, Blanca with Roro, who was celebrating his birthday today but still managed to be here for me, for all of us, Belen with her husband, Paola, Carlos and his girlfriend Rita. I felt lucky to have such a support system behind me, family really was the most important thing in the world. Chiara, Mateo and Irene had joined us as well, for me, they were like family too - only Luis had to work and hadn't managed to re-schedule his appointments, but he was coming tonight.
"I heard about Easter..." my dad, who was sitting next to me, said and I scoffed. "It's so frustrating... Everyone is pushing and pushing and now he's coming back, out of the blue, telling me I'm the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with and blah blah blah. Don't they all get that I just need my personal space right now?" I sighed and fiddled with the napkin on my lap. "You have to do what's best for you, put yourself first. Never settle for less than you think you deserve" he told me and I nodded. I took my wine glass and clinked it with him as we both raised our eyebrows giving each other a knowing look.
After we had finished eating, we decided to take a small walk around the city as the weather was glorious. "Thanks for coming today Roro, I'm glad... about how things are right now" I said as I ended up walking next to him after a red light. "You deserve all the happiness in the world, Vicky. I'm really happy for you and your book" he replied and patted my arm.
