Unfortunately the holidays were way too short, as always, and Irene and I were back at our office on a hot July summer day. And my day just got worse when I heard about the workload for the month in our reporter's meeting with the head of the Politics department. Additionally, one of the senior journalists had broken her leg while jet-skiing on her holidays and wouldn't be able to move for six weeks so I would have to fill in for her and fly to a political journalism conference in LA at the end of the month. It would be my first work trip to another country and I was nervous about that.

The days passed and I had lots of stuff to write, especially with just a few weeks to go until the elections now. I hadn't heard from Pablo since that night in Ibiza, but then again, why should I? We had had dinner and that was it - even though I had felt that we had some sort of connection, but maybe that was just my imagination.

It was Monday evening and I had made it out of office around 7, when I remembered that I didn't have any more groceries, so I took a detour on my way home and went to my local supermarket. On my way, I saw an intimissimi and since my underwear stock was shrinking, I quickly hopped in to buy a stack of new slips. Then I finally made it to Aldi and browsed through the shelves for stuff that I could possibly need.

"Ah, I'd stay away from those frozen peas, I had a pretty bad diarrhoea after eating them a few months ago" I heard a familiar voice say behind me.
I quickly put them back into the freezer and looked over to a very handsome Pablo.
"Thanks for an info that I totally didn't need" I said and laughed. He joined me and it was the most beautiful laugh I had ever seen or heard.
His eyes fell on my intimissimi bag I was holding and I quickly covered it with my everyday tote bag. Talk about an awkward moment, I hoped that he wasn't having any weird, kinky fantasies tonight.
"You know what I was just thinking about?" he asked, quickly changing the subject.
I shook my head.
"You. I just had my first training today and I was going to text you if you wanted to go out for a quick lunch or dinner sometime, and then: bam. You're standing right in front of me" he chuckled.
I laughed. "I didn't take you as the Aldi guy" I said.
"No? I'm the most naive guy, they always trick me into buying their weekly deals after I see their commercial on TV" he replied and I had to laugh again. I hadn't laughed that much since... probably that night we went out for dinner in Ibiza.

"I read your big article by the way, the newspaper was laying around at my Grandma's house" he said and smiled.
Ouch. Maybe he was into the Princess. But why did I care so much?
"Oh, so you do like her?" I asked jokingly, but actually I wasn't joking.
"Nah, I was only reading the questions, seeing if you gave her tougher questions than me. I must say, I was a bit irritated: she got questions about her favourite subject at school and you asked me super tricky political questions. I have a feeling that you mistakenly swapped your notes" he said and this again, made me burst out in laughter.
"Back to your lunch/dinner offer, I'd really love to, but I'm incredibly busy as there's a lot happening as you know, and I have to prepare for my first work trip outside of Spain - I am a bit nervous" I said.
"Oh, ok, don't worry, I'm also leaving soon for our summer tour, but I should be back towards the beginning of August, oh no, wait, I'll be home for a few days for my birthday then, ok, you know what, I'll just text you when I'm back in the city, unless I run into you in a supermarket first" he said and smiled.
"That sounds perfect, good luck for your games!" I said and was about to push my cart away when he stopped me and asked: "Erm... do you need help with your groceries? Like with carrying them back home? I... I'm here with my car and I could drive you?"
"Oh, that's so nice, but I'm here with my Vespa" I said and blushed.
"Vespa? I thought that was just the adventurous Vicky Ibiza Version" he joked.
"No, I'm a Vespa girl through and through. Why? What did you think I was actually driving?" I asked curiously.
"I don't know... maybe... a Golf?" he asked quietly.
"A Golf?! I see, I come across as quite plain and boring, maybe that's your type" I replied, teasing him about the conversation we had had back in Rotterdam about my type of men.
He chuckled. "Goodbye Vicky, see you soon."

Gavi POV

I tapped on her shoulder and pushed my cart towards the cashier as I was done with my shopping. I quickly paid, loaded everything into my brand new Audi and drove back home. Why was that girl constantly on my mind? It was hard for me to try to impress her, I had really tried with that offer to driver home, but she already had herself covered. While girls my age would probably swoon over a guy with a car, she obviously couldn't care less as she already had her own vehicle of transportation - she just was at another stage in life.

But then, why did I even want to impress her? I had lots of girls throwing themselves at me but I was never interested as I felt that it would be a distraction from my career. But with her? I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and never let her go again. She gave me a sense of order and stability as she obviously held her life very well together and I felt like I wanted to be part of that structure.
