My alarm clock rang at 7am on Saturday morning and I turned around in bed to look at Chiara who was already staring at the ceiling.
"I'm marrying my childhood crush today" she said quietly, but with a huge smile on her face.
"Mateo is probably saying the same thing to Luis right now" I giggled. We had slept at Mateo's parents' estate, where the whole wedding and celebrations were being held, while the groom and his best man had opted to sleep in a hotel nearby for the night before the wedding.

"Irene will be here any minute, as will hair & make-up" I told her and she couldn't stop smiling. I was a bit jealous of her, not in a bad way, I wished I could be this happy right now too. Since my appearance at his doorstep a few days ago, I hadn't heard from Pablo and it was nagging me up from inside. But today was my best friend's wedding and I needed to be on top of my game for her.

"Hellooooo" we heard Irene say and turned around to see her peek her head inside our room, where Chiara was currently getting her hair done.
"You're here!" the bride squealed as she saw her and the three of us hugged, Irene and me standing behind Chiara and we all looked into the mirror that was in front of her.
"Three pretty best friends" I giggled.
"But there's only one superstar, the one and only Victoria Hernandez" Chiara joked with a fake deep voice and I lightly slapped her.
"I'm taking a step back today. Martina has informed media and photographers to not picture me and no photos of me shall be published except for the official ones." I sighed. I really wanted to make this day about Chiara and keep the paps away from me.
"Thanks, Vicky" Chiara said sincerely and squeezed my hand.

"Irene, could you please go check on the bridesmaids and pages, that they have everything? They should be in the living room" I told her and she raised her eyebrows with an amused face.
"Which one?" she giggled. She was right, this was a palace, not a house. It was even bigger than my Uncle's in Seville. Mateo's family was really unbelievably rich. However, I still remembered Mateo arriving to school by bus - thankfully our parents had all kept us quite down to earth.

"Ok so... Luis and me have a present for you, you know as best man and maid of honour..." I told Chiara and gave her the small box from Harry Winston.
"Vicky..." she mumbled when she saw the jeweller's name. She gasped when she saw what was inside and I could see tears shooting to her eyes.
"Nah, come on" I chuckled, trying to fight back the tears myself. Why were weddings always so damn emotional?
