On Monday, I took a train to Madrid, equipped, as usual, with my very full and very heavy Rimowa suitcase for the days ahead. Thankfully, a nice man at Atocha helped me to carry it off the train and then, I grabbed a taxi that drove me to Manchester City's hotel in the capital. My initial idea had been to interview Foden and Bellingham together, two English stars who were both having one hell of a season, as opponents on this Tuesday night.
But my request at Madrid's PR office was very politely declined, stating that Bellingham was already very busy with English media that day, and so I had to resort to writing my piece on Rodri and Carvajal - two Spanish players meeting on the opposing sides of the pitch. It would be a good piece, surely, and I was writing in a Spanish newspaper about Spanish players, so that was at least very patriotic.
While I knew both players by now, together - they had absolutely no chemistry and to be honest, the interview was pretty boring. But that was also part of a journalist's job: to manage to write an exciting piece on a story that was absolutely not exciting. When we were done, I finished writing my article in a café around the corner and then met up with Blanca, as, once again, I was set to crash at her place. However, she had failed to tell me that she was bringing Roro along to our dinner and now I was sat next to him and across my cousin, ordering steaks.
"You guys, I can't just third-wheel at your dates" I huffed as the waiter had left our table with our orders. "You joking? Me at dinner with two of the most beautiful girls in Spain? I hope I'm getting pictured. And people say Bellingham or Pedri are players, pah. Look at me with the Hernandez cousins" Roro joked and earned slaps from both his sides. "I don't think this is funny" I mumbled, also feeling weird if I was Blanca, knowing that my boyfriend only met me because he had a crush on my cousin? I'd just think that was strange. "Nah, Roro is right. It's funny in the end" she giggled and pecked his lips. Urgh.

But she was right, it was a very funny evening, with him ordering one glass of wine after the other for us girls, because he was our DD as he obviously couldn't and didn't want to drink two days before an important match. We drove back after dinner to Blanca's flat so that I would finally be able to park my suitcase I had been dragging along with me the whole day. We decided to watch a movie together and Roro decided it should be The Hangover. We were twenty minutes in when Luis FaceTimed me and I looked at the phone confusedly.
