🎶 Hey, Soul Sister — Train 🎶

Pablo's question about the watch had caught me a bit off-guard. I just wasn't ready to share that part of me yet, as I didn't want him to treat me any differently. Actually, I doubt that he would, but I just didn't feel 100% comfortable with telling people about it, sooner or later I was going to have to tell him. Maybe if he visited us at home in Andalusia, he would find out anyways.

We spent Monday evening at my flat, I had had quite a long day at work, but we wanted to see each other again before Pablo had to fly out to Porto as they were playing there on Wednesday in the Champions League.

"Ok, what do you think about me inviting my teammates over and maybe Xavi, the coaches and some of the guys that work closely with the team? I'd really like to introduce you and I'll ask the guys to also bring the girlfriends and wives, so that you can get to know them. We're all very close and the girls are too, they go to games together and stuff... Maybe it could be nice for you?" Pablo asked as we were having dinner.
"That is so thoughtful of you, thank you. I'd love to meet everyone you're spending all your days with" I chuckled.
"Great, it's going to be very chill and relaxed, we don't have extravagant players thankfully" Pablo said.
"What about Koundé? The Barca Instagram account handlers seem to like his... 'style' pretty much" I joked.
"Yeah, he's very fashion forward. But he's one of the funniest guys, you'll like him" Pablo replied and gave me one of his gorgeous smiles, where his dimples would show.

Pedri had invited Kike, Chiara and me over to his place this time to watch the game on Wednesday, and my friend was mortified as she didn't know why he had invited her and not the other girls too. But she found him way too handsome to say no, even though she wasn't the type to go for a younger guy. At least that was what she said.

At least that was what she said

Chiara had insisted to arrive with me at Pedri's on Wednesday as she didn't want to be alone, and when he opened up for us, we saw that we weren't his only guests. Frenkie, who I had already met at the stadium last week, was also there with a beautiful pregnant girl who introduced herself as Mikky to me.
"So you're Gavi's girl?" she asked excitedly and I nodded shyly.
"To be honest, you're more than we could have ever imagined. We always thought he'd go the easy route and pick a random girl from TikTok, but someone like you, a journalist, older... wow!" she said and laughed.
"Thanks... I guess?" I said and chuckled nervously.
"I'm so excited for Friday, I'll add you to the girls group then, I don't want everyone to assault you already tonight on WhatsApp before you've met them" she said and smiled.
Mikky, Chiara and I talked a bit more while the build-up was playing on TV and she was really, really wonderful and nice.

Eventually, we all sat down and got quiet as the players walked out and the CL anthem played. Pedri and Frenkie didn't fail to remind us a gazillion times that today was the toughest game in the group stage. And the hosts started off well, getting creative here and there and our goalkeeper was well occupied. My leg started bouncing nervously and I sat myself more on the edge of the couch when Pablo was booked already in the 36th minute with a yellow card. Fucking hell. And Lewandowski injured - I was really praying that the boys could leave with at least one point tonight, it was really stressful to watch. But when Ferran beautifully shot the ball into the net we shot up from our seats in ecstasy - well, at least Pedri, Chiara and me. Frenkie couldn't because of his cast and Mikky because of her huge belly.

My nerves calmed down a bit during the break, only to rise again in the second half, Porto was being much more of a threat now.
"We're only 10 men on the pitch!!" Frenkie suddenly shouted.
"What?" his girlfriend shouted and squinted her eyes to see better.
"Lamine!! Where is he??" Pedri now shouted too. I was so stressed, trying to look for Lamine while also praying that Cancelo's handball wouldn't be converted into a penalty and possibly a second yellow card for him.
The game went on and suddenly Alonso was in the game for Lamine apparently, who had just gone MIA. Finally, the last few minutes were being played and then it happened. Another foul by Pablo. The referee didn't hesitate and pulled out the yellow and then the red card.

"FUCK! NO!" I shouted and looked for something to throw on the ground, only finding Pedri's Men's Health magazine cover, but it was better than nothing. "What. An. Idiot!" I said, now also throwing myself on my knees and hitting the floor with my fist after every word.
"Is she always like that?" I heard Mikky ask in the background.
"When Pablo gets booked, yeah..." Chiara replied.
"I mean, I can see why he likes her character..." Mikky chuckled.
Honestly, I was so pissed. He was going to miss the next game because of that - it wouldn't be the hardest one - but still, with all the injuries going on in the team, he just should've been more careful.

In the end, the team got the three points nonetheless and Chiara brought me home as I was still in a bad mood. As usual, Pablo facetimed when they were back at their hotel and I tried to be composed.
"Hey..." he sighed.
"Hey..." I answered quietly.
"I know you must be so disappointed, I'm so sorry" he whispered. The apology wasn't for me as in the girlfriend, but for me as in the fan.
"Pablo... You played well though, you just have to be more careful, you're crucial for the team!" I said, but knew that he also already knew.
"I know, I know. Did you catch my interview with Vanguardia by the way?" he said with a smug smile, making me smile too.
"Indeed, I did. How was Joan?" I asked curiously.
"Very nice. I almost let it slip that you're more worried than my Mum in duels, but I caught myself in time" he chuckled and I did too.
"By the way, Dad bought tickets for me and him to the Granada game, so I'll spend the weekend with the parents at home and get back here on Monday evening. Do you think you could spend Monday morning visiting us?" I asked, crossing my fingers behind the screen.
"Let me check, but I guess so, I'll have to arrive in Madrid sometime if I get called up to the National Team, which I expect, but I think I can make it work." he said and smiled.
"How great, tell me if you can ride back with us on Sunday after the game or if I should pick you up Monday morning then" I said.
"I will. Good night, mi amor. I love you" he said and smiled widely.
"I love you Pablo" I replied and hung up.

Great. Pablo coming to our home. I'd have to prepare him about what to expect.
