"VICTORIA!"
"HERE!"
"WHEN IS HE GOING TO PROPOSE?"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY?"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
"HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE 26?"
"IS HE GOING TO PROPOSE TODAY?"
"WILL YOU BE GOING OUT TONIGHT?"

The paparazzi were shooting all kind of questions at me as I got out of my car to get to the restaurant were I was meeting with Chiara and Irene for lunch. They had been following me all day, since they spotted me in the city center this morning and I started to feel uneasy. It had never been this bad, but now it was all about when Pablo was going to propose. I spotted Chiara and Irene already seated and forced my lips to curl up in a smile.

"Happy birthday!" they both chirped in unison when I sat down.
"Thanks, Matilda?" I immediately asked Chiara about her daughter.
"Ugh, don't be such an infatuated auntie, she's with the nanny" she told me and I pouted a bit.
"Has it ever been this bad?" Irene asked and pointed at the paps camped out in fron of the restaurant, waiting for me to come back out.
"No... They're fixed that Pablo's going to propose today" I sighed.

"Yeah, because of the picture! What else would he be doing at a jeweller a week ago?" Chiara squeaked excitedly. The paps had caught Pablo shopping at a jeweller last week and that was the reason for them going crazy now.
"Have you asked him about it?" Irene asked.
"No! It could be literally just a present for my birthday, earrings, a necklace,..." I mumbled.
"But what if he is going to propose?" Chiara asked with a glimmer in her eyes.
"Yeah! Have you done your nails?" Irene asked but didn't wait for an answer, instead she grabbed my hand to admire my freshly manicured hand herself.

"This is fresh! You went this morning! So you think it could be possible too!" she gasped and I turned bright red.
"Maybe..." I mumbled, trying to not let my inner freak out. Ever since last year in Baltimore, I was getting overly excited on special dates like birthdays and anniversaries. But Pablo was still so young, I couldn't quite believe that it was time already. But a girl could dream.

"Anyways, have you girls seen Luis lately?" I asked. I missed my best friend and on top of that, he had declined his invitation to my birthday party tonight, as he was "in the States for business".
"Yeah, he came over for dinner last week" Chiara replied.
"And? Does he have a girlfriend? Is he seeing someone?" I asked curiously but Chiara's expression was unreadable.
"Didn't he go to Carlos Sainz' wedding with some blonde girl?" Irene asked and I nodded along, I was curious and would have loved to meet up with him in person, but with the paps currently following me everywhere there was no chance.
"That was his cousin" Chiara replied and Irene and my faces fell.

"He needs to find someone, he's literally a walking perfect boyfriend, how doesn't he manage to pull someone?" I asked and made a sad face.
"It's not that easy for everyone" Chiara mumbled and looked at her plate.
"You know more than you want to tell!" Irene said as she eyed her suspiciously.
"I told you what I know! He doesn't have a girlfriend!" she defended herself and we decided to drop the topic.
