Luis did a great job at distracting me for the rest of the plane ride and then bus ride to the hotel. But é ven though he tried his best to divert my focus, I still noticed people from the plane eyeing me weirdly or even worse, giving me pitying looks. As soon as I had checked myself in at the hotel, I disappeared into my room and prayed that I would just vanish into air. I didn't show up for dinner, I was still too mortified.

The next day, I woke up with the usual bunch of text messages from my mother, Kike, Chiara and Irene checking in on me. I texted yesterday's occurrences into our girl's group chat from where we had thrown Ana out, before reading a new message from Luis.

Luis Laporta
Work by the kids pool in an hour?

Victoria Hernandez
Kids pool?!

Luis Laporta
Squad is training and some of the rest are at the normal pool
Figured you wouldn't necessarily want to cross paths with them?

Victoria Hernandez
You're always three steps ahead of everyone

Luis Laporta

I smiled at the phone. Luis was really doing a great job of babysitting me and I was grateful for him. But I needed to know his intentions, I didn't want to disappoint him in the end. I got ready and packed my tote bag with a towel, my laptop, my iPad and a few other necessities before walking down. The kids pool was actually a great idea, it was basically empty except for a couple with a child, but they were seated far from where Luis was sitting, who had occupied another lounger for me.

"Hey" I greeted him and laid out my towel on the lounger. I went on to lay down and unpack my laptop, but decided to speak what was on my mind first.
"Why are you so nice to me?" I asked.
He laughed. "I know what you're thinking. You're a beautiful girl, Vicky, but your heart lies elsewhere and my heart is broken too, so those are not my intentions. I really think you could use a friend and... I could too. There aren't many people who like me at work - I'm the bad guy cutting the money." he sighed.
"Ok, I just wanted to make things clear before... either of us..." I said and stopped, I think he got it.
"Don't worry. People like us stick together" he replied and smiled. I knew what he meant with 'people like us'.
"Sorry that the tabloids are dragging you into this narrative, by the way" I mumbled.
"Nah, don't worry. It's not my first time in a magazine like that. And my ex already called and texted a thousand times, insulting me how quickly I moved on and bla bla bla... It's quite entertaining" he chuckled.

"Anyways, Fermin Lopez has a cracked phone screen because of you. He got it repaired and sent the bill for it to our department. Please talk to him and give him the money for it. My budgets are already slim and I didn't calculate an extra post for 'angry players' ex-girlfriends'..." he said and chuckled.
"Yeah, I'll go talk to him. I have an interview with Pedri and Ferran scheduled after lunch, that will be awkward enough. I'll look for him beforehand" I sighed.
"Why awkward? I mean, they're obviously friends with-" he asked, but I interrupted him.
"Pedri is sleeping with Chiara, but 'no feelings' and Ferran and I slept with each other a few weeks ago." I blurted out.
His eyes widened and then he burst out in laughter. "See? We could never work because you like them way younger than me!" he joked.
"This is not funny!" I exclaimed and hit him with my notebook, but had to laugh too. I was relieved that he wasn't judging me - he saw who I was now and dealt with that version of me - and he did it very well.
We both worked silently next to each other for the next few hours until we went back to our rooms before lunchtime.

holacom They're both over it! Just shortly after her ex-boyfriend Gavi was pictured out and about with his new flame Ana Cordero, Victoria Hernandez has been photographed with Luis Laporta again, this time in Riyadh at the hotel where FC Barcelona is currently staying during the Spanish Supercopa, which is taking place in Saudi Arabia the next few days.
Laporta himself just recently split from his fiancé, supermodel Caroline James over "irreconcilable differences" as sources close to the couple confirmed.

As I wanted to find Fermín before lunch in order to not awkwardly having to walk up to his table, I hurried down quickly and waited in the lobby. Thankfully, he showed up a few minutes later and I blocked his way, asking with a soft voice: "Hey, can we talk for a minute?"
He just nodded and we sat down on two sofas.
"First of all, here. Luis gave me the bill for your screen" I said and gave him a 100€ note.
"Vicky... No, really..." he said and pushed the money back into my hands.
"The club can't pay for it because it's broke. I'm not. Just... take it!" I urged and gave him back the note.
"Now. I'm sorry for overreacting yesterday. It was all a lot for me. Everything is still a lot for me, I'm in therapy and still got a long way before me. I'll probably never be the same Vicky as before, but I have to learn to deal with everything going on" I explained and he looked at me with sad eyes.
"Vicky... When you and Pablo were together,... you became like a sister for me. When you disappeared... I lost you too. And now I'm torn between my childhood best friend and somehow wanting to be there for you as you must be suffering the worst. What is going on with Luis? I swear I'm not going to tell Pablo, I just... want to know if you have a real friend in this." he sighed.
"He's a friend." I said simply. He was definitely telling Pablo sooner or later.
"Ok. I'm relieved you have someone. Please understand that I'm sticking with Pablo now, because he needs a friend more than ever. His whole life is turned upside down and he's not coping well." he said, sounding a bit cryptic.
"He obviously isn't if he's with a bitch like Ana" I snarled and crossed my arms. He looked like he wanted to say something, but ultimately decided against it.

"You'll always be like a big sister I'll look up to. We're good right?" Fermín said and hugged me as we both stood up and walked to the restaurant.
"We're good" I answered and shot him a soft smile. As we got inside, he went straight to a table with his teammates, while I was left at the entrance scanning the room. I had to decide where to sit: the girlfriends, whom I all knew, but that was not my place anymore - or the journalists, who were already hating me for my "connections" to the club.

Luis' eyes met mine and he quickly waved me over to his table, where the club's whole board and coaches were sitting. I sighed and started walking. I shot him an apologetic smile as I passed their table and sat down with the other journalists on their table. This was my place. Even though they all talked shit about me behind my back. But I had to deal with it. I wasn't a girlfriend anymore and had lost my place there.
