A World Between

Iron POV

When Super comes back in fresh clothes John slides the table to the side. He then stands before us.

Iron: "So what is it you found out?"

John: "Turns out the one we're going after is a being named Deus."

Faunus: "What can you tell us about him?"

John: "Many consider him an unstoppable force of nature. His ferocity scared every known cosmic being. He's also been known to go into a frenzy. In this state he feels nothing but the urge to kill. That landed him most of his kills. That coupled with his ability to bend life to his will, makes him one of the most dangerous force in existence."

Y/N: "Where can we find him?"

John: "That's the biggest problem. Where he's at is a place one doesn't simply visit."

Super: "Where exactly is he?"

John: "In the blank space."

Faunus: "What's that?"

John: "It's a realm between life and death. Many legends refer to it as limbo. But it doesn't function the way legends depict."

Iron: "Explain."

John: "You got a chalkboard?"

I nod pulling one out. Handing him a piece of chalk, I take a seat, ready for the lecture.

John: "Okay, let's say we have a mortal."

He draws a stick figure.

John: "Something happens and he dies."

He draws x's for eyes and a frown on the stick figure.

John: "Normally he would head to the afterlife."

He draws a mini sun and flowers then draws an arrow from the stick figure to the drawing.

John: "But now imagine someone with immortality."

He draws another stick right above the original. 

John: "Something happens and they die."

He draws a line into the one heading for the afterlife.

John: "But since they can't fully die, they head somewhere suitable for them."

From the middle of the line he makes another go diagonally. At the end of the arrow he draws two small stick figures with a line between them.

John: "Immortals don't fully die. When their bodies are destroyed their soul goes to a place to wait for their bodies to heal. That is the blank space. A place where the dead and living can briefly interact."

Super: "So does that mean only immortals can reach this place?"

John: "Yes. But there's been proof saying people who have a near death experience sometimes end up there."

Faunus: "So in order for us to get there, we've gotta nearly die."

Speed: "But if we do that, there's no guarantee we'll recover."

Iron: "So in other words only John can face Deus."

John: "No."

We all look at him.

John: "I know someone who can provide us passage to the blank space. He specializes in stuff of this nature."

Super: "Alright, then let's go talk to this guy and get him to help us."

John: "That might be difficult."

Super: "Why?"

John: "If we're going. There's something you should know about him."

Faunus: "What?"

John: "He's... going through a lot of issues. So if you're gonna talk to him, choose your words carefully."

We nod. John sets the A.M.I.D to the appropriate universe. Mashing the dial down we're transported to a mechanic shop. We all look over the building.

Y/N: "The guy who's gonna help us reach the land between life and death, is a mechanic?"

John: "It's a hobby. Helps him clear his mind."
