Beastly Allies

Axel POV

Beast looks at the baby Ruby that's now sleeping in a crib. After a couple seconds he looks back at us.

Beast: "I'll get ready."

After sorting some business Beast meets us outside the cave.

Axel: "Ready?"

Beast: "Let's kick some ass."

Cracking a smile I double tap my earpiece. A holographic screen is projected. Tapping it and swiping left a rift is opened in front of us. Dispelling the screen we walk through the rift.

3rd POV

In the river of an undisclosed place we find Chase and Zander floating with the current. They eventually wash up on a shore. There they lay until a silhouette hovers over them.

???: "What do we have here?"

It nudges Chase who groans faintly.

???: "Good. I'm not too late."

Grabbing ahold of the heroes, they're dragged away.

Chase POV

My eyes shoot open. Looking around I jump to my feet.

Chase: "Where the heck am I?"

A door opens. I look to see a man with considerable gray in his hair.

???: "You're up."

Chase: "Where am I?"

???: "You're in my humble home."

Chase: "How'd I get here?"

???: "I was doing my daily rounds when I found you and another fella laying in the sand."

My eyes widen.

Chase: "Where is he?"

I'm led to a room. Upon entering I see Zander. Rushing to his side I look over his frail state.

???: "Your friend is lucky to be alive. He looks like he got the soul sucked out of him. I tried to help him but nothing seems to work."

Chase: "Dust crystals."

???: "Huh?"

I look at him.

Chase: "Dust crystals. I need all the dust you've got. And a big piece of cloth. Hurry."

He rushes away. Eventually him and two girls who look to be mid teens return with everything I need.

???: "What're you gonna do?"

Chase: "Save him."

Grabbing the cloth I lay it out flat. Then putting all the dust crystals on it I bundle up the cloth. Finally I use my speed to crush the crystals to a fine powder.

Girls: "Wicked."

Finished I move the cloth closer to Zander.

Chase: "Sorry buddy."

Vibrating my hand I phase it into Zander's body. Then slowing down just enough I dispense the dust power. Withdrawing my hand I watch and wait. Pretty soon the dust hits his bloodstream making his skin regain its original hue. His hair then returns to normal but retains a white streak on the side of his head. His eyes finally open, landing on me.

Zander: "What'd I miss?"

I smile seeing him alright.

???: "Okay. Do one of you gentlemen kindly wanna explain what's going on?"

*timeskip*

Chase: "So what do you say Shifter?"

He exhales, running his hand through his hair.

Shifter: "I don't know. To be honest I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that there's life outside my own reality. And you want me to help you in a war against someone who can destroy everything. It's a lot to take in."

Zander: "We know. Trust us. We had the exact same reaction."

Shifter: "Did it get easier?"

Chase: "No. Because no matter how times you tell yourself it can't get worse, it always does. There's always gonna something new out there that throws you for a loop."

Shifter: "Thanks. That really helps."

Zander: "It's harsh. But it's just reality. Everything we thought we knew is wrong. Times have changed and they're never gonna go back to normal. The best thing you can do and just accept whatever happens next and bet on it not being friendly."

Shifter: "Even if I do help you. I'm not the fighter I once was. I have a family now. I have a wife, kids."

Zander: "We've all got something to fight for. But if we don't take a stand then all of that will mean nothing. They'll die and we'll join them soon after. So what's it gonna be? Die knowing you fought like hell for them? Or cower and wait for Noctis to get you all?"

He stares at his wedding ring. Inhaling deeply he looks at us with determination etched onto his face.

Shifter: "You've got me on your side."

Heading outside I vibrate my hand. Then with a slash I open a rift. Shifter gives one final wave to his family before joining us through the rift.
